The Most Heartbreaking K-Dramas That Made Us Cry for Days

There are days when you just feel like you can use a good cry, not for any particular reason, but just for the emotional release. If you’ve recently discovered the K-drama world, you’re bound to encounter a lot of tearjerkers. So for that dose of heartbreak, here are some of the saddest K-Dramas that will surely make you cry.

 

Goblin

When a military general is betrayed by his king and is sentenced to death, he is cursed to live his life as an immortal goblin. In order to break the curse, he has to have the invisible sword stuck inside him removed by his bride. Fast forward to many years and Kim Shin (Gong Yoo) discovers that his bride is a seventeen-year-old high school student named Ji Eun-Tak (Kim Go-eun). Determined to finally end his cursed life he tries to persuade Eun-Tak to finally set him free.

 

Stairway To Heaven

The story of Han Jung-suh ( Choi Ji-woo) and Cha Song-joo (Kwon Song-woo) who are childhood best friends who were separated because of tragic accidents. Years later, they meet again only to be separated because of evil people. When they finally reunite, Jung-suh is met with the news that she has eye cancer. This story of love, loss, and acceptance captivated many hearts from across Asia.

Kang Joon-Sang ( Bae Yong-joon) is a musician that moves to Chuncheon he’s a talented student that is welcomed by other students. However, he suffers from serious insecurities that stemmed from his constant disagreements with his mother. He later falls in love with his classmate Jeong Yoo-jin ( Choi Ji-woo) but is cut short when he gets into an accident and loses his memory. Determined to start a new life, they move to America and Joon-sang has completely forgotten about Jeong Yoo-jin.

 

Autumn In My Heart

Two babies are switched at birth marks the beginning of a tragic love story. Choi Eun -suh ( Song Hye-kyu) and Yoon Shin-ae are mistakenly switched at birth. When Choi Eun-suh gets into a tragic accident, her parents discover that she’s not their real daughter, and Eun-suh and Shin-ae are finally reunited with their biological parents. Years later, Eun-suh meets the brother she once knew once again, Yoon Joon-suh ( Song Seung-heon). This starts a forbidden romance that is met with tragedy.

 

A Thousand Day’s Promise

When a young and spirited woman falls in love with a man who is set to marry another person, their love story is already doomed. Lee Seo-yeon (Soo Ae) is in a relationship with architect Park Ji-hyung ( Kim Rae-won), but when Seo-yeon finds out that Rae-won’s engagement to another woman is pushing through, she immediately breaks off their relationship. Seo-yeon is soon met with the news that she has Alzheimer’s disease. Unable to forget about Seo-yeon,  Ji-hyung calls off his engagement and immediately proposes to Seo-yeon against his parents’ wishes.

 

Kill Me, Heal Me

Cha Do Hyun ( Ji Sung) is a third-generation business heir who was diagnosed with dissociative identity disorder, with the help of Oh Ri Jin ( Hwang Jung-eum) he slowly tries to regain control of his life. With his diagnosis hinder their love story? Or will they push through no matter what?

 

The Snow Queen

When math genius Han Tae-woong wins gold at the international math Olympiad, he is met with tragedy rather than happiness as his competitor died by suicide because he didn’t meet his father’s expectations. Driven by guilt, Tae-woong quits school and later on becomes a boxer. He then meets cold-hearted Kim Bo-ra ( Sung Yu-ri) and they start to help one another move on from the past.

 

Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo

Go Ha-jin (Lee JI-eun) is transported back in time and becomes Hae Soo, she meets Wang Wook (Kang Ha-nuel) the warm hearted eighth prince. But she eventually falls for the mysterious fourth prince Wang So ( Lee Joon-gi). How will Ha-jin escape from the past and return to her time?
