8 Fun Friday Night Habits That’ll Help You Maintain Your Sanity in These Trying Times

Fridays are the best part of each week because you’ve got the whole weekend in front of you. These days, it can be difficult to have something to look forward to, so add these activities to your Fridays routines to give you more to look forward to.
We’re still far from experiencing the “normal” again (we might not go back to it ever) and your usual Friday bar nights (or hopping?) with friends isn’t going to happen any time soon. But that doesn’t mean you can’t have a similar experience at home, just with a few little tweaks. Go on a Zoom call with your friends and have a bar-hopping experience by changing your backgrounds with different bars. It’s pretty hilarious and you can relive your most embarrassing drunken stories. You can be a bartender for the night, and it can be your new hobby too!
Have you been keeping up with the latest quarantine food trends? Sushi bake or ube-cheese pandesal? Treat yourself with a good meal and skip the usual fast food deliveries! Different food delivery services have launched this period of quarantine and it’s always nice to support small businesses. Start listing them down and do make sure to include small businesses owned by your friends.
Don’t let that 2020 planner pick up dust on your shelf. It’s still useful! With the uncertainties of this trying time, it can be challenging to find something that would help you feel grounded. One effective way of coping is through writing and you can turn your planner into a journal! If you find writing daily a bit of a commitment especially if you’re still writing out, dedicating an hour or two of your Fridays can be helpful. Don’t be pressured too, because you can write about anything. For a change: write about your feelings and not just what you did the whole week. You’ll feel better afterwards.
If your group of friends or family enjoy a bit of competition, quiz nights are always fun. Until someone couldn’t accept defeat and starts crying. Kidding aside, there are loads of topics or themes you can have for the night and to take it up a notch, why don’t you try doing PowerPoint Parties too?
Because watching alone can get boring at times… unless? For some reason, have you been missing watching movies in the cinemas too? Netflix Parties are the closest things we can do to have a similar experience. Plus, it’s fun to be able to “talk” while watching a movie without being hushed by your seatmates, especially when it’s a horror or bad movie. Try going on video call too, in case you need support on that next horror film you’re watching.
Who has the time to squeeze in workouts every day anyway? If you’ve been on that balik alindog agenda the whole quarantine but can’t commit to a daily routine yet, start small by doing it once a week! Make it more fun by including friends or family via video call because you just don’t want to suffer alone like that. While we can’t go to gyms yet, there are gyms and studios offering classes via Zoom that you can join.
I mean, you probably do this every night already but you can’t really enjoy playing on a weeknight when you’re worrying about your everyday tasks at the back of your head. But tbh gaming is a great way to cope. At least during Fridays, you can stay up much longer and finally get on that next level of the game you’re playing. If you’ve recently gotten a Nintendo Switch, these games might be your next addiction.
No gadgets for a night. The moment you turn off your laptop after work, your gadgets go in the corner too. There’s so much content we see these days and it can get overwhelming when you always feel like you have to constantly keep up with them. Going offline for a night won’t hurt. Enjoy a meal with your family. Finally, pick up that book that’s been waiting for you for months. Play your favorite albums and have a dance party. Take a long shower, bathroom concert included. Whatever makes you feel alive.
