Ahh 2018, what a time to be alive! Congratulate yourself for surviving a disastrous 2017. With the year just starting out, we already can’t wait for all the music that is set to be released over the next 12 months. We also can’t help but look back from 10 years ago, when things were much, much simpler. 2008 was the year of our favorite pop Queens. If you think the music of 2017 was epic, think again; read on if you want to feel old, as these 8 iconic songs are turning 10 this year.
Where my single ladies at?? Girls (and some guys), “Single Ladies” was your jam back in the day. You even memorized the dance steps and religiously danced to it. We all know that Beyoncé is Queen even when she was still with Destiny’s Child, but it was “Single Ladies” that established her as the one and only Queen.
2008 was the year Taylor Swift released “Love Story”, which is arguably the best Taylor Swift song ever.
Yes, people, Coldplay used to release decent and ear-friendly songs, and “Viva La Vida” was their last good one.
Today, we can’t imagine a world sans Lady Gaga. 2008 was the year the world gave birth to our Mother Monster, thanks to her chart-topping hit “Poker Face”.
Even back then our girl Rihanna has been serving us life lessons through her music; “Take A Bow” is one we still get nuggets from.
Pop superstar Katy Perry has always been raunchy, just look at her debut single. Katy, don’t ever change.
Back then, “7 Things” was the angriest song of Miley, and her fans loved every lyric of it. It was rumored that the song was about our favorite JoBro, but we couldn’t care less.
Remember that song that got stuck in your brain for months? That song was probably “That’s Not My Name”.
