Back then, being a celebrity relied on a combination of pure talent, good looks, and charisma.

Being the first Filipina ever to win the Miss Universe title in 1969, Gloria set the standard for Filipina beauty queens. To think that she was only 18 years old when she wowed the world with her honest-to-goodness answer to the final round question, “If a man from the moon landed on your hometown, what would you do to entertain him?” Without hesitation, she answered, “Oh, just the same things I do. I think if he has been in the moon for so long, I think when he comes over he wants to change, I guess.” If only we were all as cool.
