8 Moves To Turn Your Passion Into Your Profession

5: Look At How Your Role Models Did It

Look at the people who inspire you, the people who’ve done what you want to do. Learn more about their journey, and create your own “career ladder” based on the lessons of their lives.

6: Always Remember Your “Why”

Always reconnect with the 5 most important reasons why you’re doing this, and make sure those reasons matter.

Do you want to do this to set an example for your family? To make a difference in the lives of others? To leave a legacy that makes the world a better place?

Or maybe to simply have enough financial & time freedom to take your parents on their dream trip?

Whatever those 5 compelling reasons are, keep them in mind. Because if your only reason for creating your ‘passion profession’ is “I want to be rich and famous,” then it’s never going to be enough to bring you success.

7: Keep Evaluating, Keep Modifying. And Keep Celebrating

Don’t be afraid to revise your plan or alter your direction. Keep seizing small opportunities, and build your portfolio. Connect with people. Ask for help.

And most of all, give yourself a pat on the back for the steps you’ve already taken, no matter how small.

Remember: You don’t have to get it perfect. You just need to get it going.

8: Realize That You’re Never Really “Done”

In some of my “Make It Happen” life goals workshops, I get 60 year old participants who are still reinventing themselves. It’s completely inspiring!

Their presence reminds me that while we may already be successful in some areas, we can always move forward toward new dreams & new successes.

So keep on learning, never being afraid of becoming a “Beginner.” Keep on re-inventing yourself, and discover the many other versions of who you can be.

Life was made to be long enough for us to live different adventures.
