Valentine’s Gift Guide for Your Boyfriend Who Says He Doesn’t Want Anything

Valentine’s Gift Guide for Your Boyfriend Who Says He Doesn’t Want Anything

Feb 6, 2025   •   Justin Aguiting

Let’s be real—shopping for a boyfriend who insists he “doesn’t want anything” can be frustrating. As a dude who has said this to my girlfriend more times than I can count, I’m here to help. The truth is, most guys do appreciate gifts—it’s just that our preferences depend on our hobbies. If he’s into sports, for example, a replica jersey of his favorite team is a no-brainer. But if that’s not his thing, don’t worry—I’ve got eight solid gift ideas to help you out this Valentine’s Day.

1. Merch from his favorite sports team or franchise

There’s only one thing that divides my attention from my girlfriend, and that’s football. Every football fan’s collection should include their team’s jersey or their favorite player’s shirt. Personally, I’d love an FC Barcelona jersey.
But if your guy isn’t into sports, maybe he’s obsessed with Pokémon or Star Wars. Merch from that franchise might be a great gift. Just be careful though—you might accidentally start a new hobby and turn him into a collector!

2. It doesn’t have to be expensive—handwritten letters are ACTUALLY cute

During a guys-only trip to a remote place, my best friend would pull out a jar of handwritten notes from his then-girlfriend (now fiancée). Each note was a reason why she loved him.

It might sound cheesy, but every night, he’d sit down with a drink in hand and read each and every note while we were hanging out. And guess what? Being cute is still a thing and we appreciate that!

3. Hobbies are the way to his heart

I already mentioned merch, but what does your boyfriend actually do to relieve stress? Does he play basketball? Run miles every morning?

Whatever his hobby is, he’d appreciate a thoughtful gift that supports it. A runner will love quality running socks, while a mountaineer would appreciate new gear for his next hiking trip.

4. Gadgets? Maybe… maybe not

If you have the budget and you’ve noticed your boyfriend eyeing a pair of earphones or if his phone is in desperate need of an upgrade—but he won’t buy it for himself—this might be the perfect time to put that Christmas bonus to good use.

5. A timeless classic: A watch

If you want to splurge on your man this Valentine’s, a watch is always a great choice. Beyond gadgets and material things, a good watch is something he’ll truly value. It’s a piece that fathers pass down to their sons—it’s sentimental, stylish, and says, “I want to give you the best time.”

6. A dine-in experience

Short on budget? No worries at all! Cooking for your man is something he’ll genuinely love and appreciate.
Take him grocery shopping and pick out ingredients together. If he asks what you’re making, just tell him it’s for something special. When you get home, ask him to help out in the kitchen—it’ll turn into a sweet and intimate experience.

7. Gas him up—literally

You: “Let’s go on a road trip.”
Him: “Gas is expensive.”

This is the usual response when you ask a guy to go on a trip. Whether he drives a car or rides a motorcycle, covering the gas would be a game-changer. Just imagine cruising down the open road, seeing trees of green and skies of blue—no excuses, just vibes.

8. Beyond material things

Most guys will say they don’t like surprises… but secretly, they do.

At the end of the day, it’s not about the price tag—it’s about the thought and effort behind the gift. Whether it’s a simple letter, a fun experience, or something he’s been eyeing for a while, what really matters is that it comes from you and the time you’ll spend with him. (Yeah, guys like to vibe)

Happy Valentine’s!
