Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto has gone viral once again for one of his witty remarks during a public address. A clip of the mayor has gone viral on social media, where he quipped about granting kisses after the pandemic. Here’s what went down:
In a visit to Pasig’s Barangay Rosario, residents cheer loudly for Sotto, but some take their cheering to the next level by requesting for a kiss from the 32-year-old mayor. “Mayor, pa-kiss!” is one of the resident’s shouts heard in the viral video.
Of course, the witty Sotto knows just what to tell his constituents. He began by apologizing for being unable to grant a kiss due to the pandemic. “Pasensya na po, bawal pa ang kiss. Ipagdasal po natin na matapos ang pandemiya na ito,” he said.
The Pasig mayor then continued to say that he rarely makes promises, but he would give one right now, that is, a kiss after the pandemic.
Pasig Mayor @VicoSotto says in jest he would grant requests for kisses after #COVID19 pandemic: “Pangako ko po sa inyo, pagkatapos ng pandemiya, kahit mag-kiss pa tayo puwedeng puwede.”

And of course, the crowd went wild!
Whether a Pasig resident or not, netizens are finding his newest viral remark hilarious, joining on the fun and jokingly asking where the line is — or even how to become a Pasigueño.

Aside from his praise-worthy policies and principled governance, Sotto is also known for sprinkling jokes when talking with his constituents, which have endeared him not only to Pasigueños but also Filipinos across the country. During the same address, Sotto also showed his wit and humor when he received two microphones amid technical difficulties and when he named Ruby Rodriguez as his mother after asking the audience.
This wit and humor translates even in online spaces, as you’ve probably witnessed in his Facebook and Twitter pages. Most recently, he responded to the viral clip on Twitter. Did he get a little shy with all the attention his joke is getting? All in good fun, Mayor!
Ano ba tong binabalita niyo Ms. Kat hahah

During his time with the residents of Barangay Rosario, Sotto was still able to address what needed to be addressed, earning him praise from his constituents. He also urged Pasigueños to vote wisely in the upcoming elections.
While Sotto said he would be focusing on the local level instead of getting involved in the national elections, his words still apply to all voters across the country. That’s why we should listen to the Pasig mayor, educate ourselves about this elections’ candidates, and vote wisely.
