Kakampinks Get Sentimental Over VP Leni Robredo’s Eventful Last Days in Office

Jun 30, 2022   •   Kyzia Maramara

Today, Vice President Leni Robredo spent her last day in office. Tomorrow, June 30, Vice President-elect Sara Duterte-Carpio will officially start her term. But while it’s still June 29, VP Leni’s supporters are flooding social media with appreciation posts thanking the VP for the past six years. Even as she steps down from her post, VP Leni’s office even received good news to cap her term as one of the greatest vice presidents the Philippines ever had.

Here are a few key moments during VP Leni’s last official day in office:

VP Leni leaves the Quezon City Reception House

For the last time as the sitting vice president, VP Leni leaves her office of six years. Her security detail gives her a send-off as she’s seen waving from inside the van.

COA grants OVP an ‘unqualified opinion’

We were granted an unqualified opinion by the Commission on Audit for the 4th straight year (2018-2021)!!! What a fitting exclamation point to our 6 years at the OVP🙏🙏

The Commission on Audit granted the Office of the Vice President an ‘unqualified opinion’ for the fourth consecutive year since 2018. This means the OVP’s financial reports are all accounted for and in order. VP Leni herself proudly shared the news to Filipinos on the afternoon of her last day in office. It was indeed a fitting exclamation point to the end of an era.

Her portrait is hung on the wall

It truly is the end. Outgoing VP Leni Robredo’s portrait is now placed beside those of past VPs.

Signifying her stepping down from office, a portrait of VP Leni is seen placed on the wall alongside previous vice presidents. “It truly is the end,” captions Rappler reporter Mara Cepeda.

Last June 27, VP Leni held a “family day” for the friends and family of her OVP staff. Children were entertained by a clowns, balloons, a body paint booth, and free ice cream. VP Leni thanked her staff for keeping things running for the past six years.

“Whether it is fate or destiny, pipiliin at pipiliin ko na magsilbi sa inyo,” said VP Leni’s chief-of-staff Usec Boyet Dy during his farewell speech which was met with applause.

Of course, VP Leni’s three daughters — Aika, Tricia, and Jillian — won’t miss their mother’s historic last day in office. Aika, the eldest, shared two family photos on social media six years apart, her mother’s first and last day as vice president.
