Let’s be honest, most of us have no idea what to do with our old bras. These are garments that have served us faithfully for years and have been with us through thick and thin, tossing them in the trash just feels wrong. In fact, a survey by Wacoal reveals that 61% of women would rather not throw their old bras away. What typically happens is they end up stashed in a drawer, forgotten and collecting dust. Thankfully, Wacoal’s Bra Recycling Campaign is back, giving us a meaningful way to let go of old bras and help the planet. So if you’ve got a drawer full of old, unused bras gathering dust, now’s the perfect time to clear them out with purpose.
Instead of throwing your worn-out bras in the trash, you can give them a purposeful second life through Wacoal’s Bra Recycling Campaign. Wacoal’s decade-long annual campaign accepts old, used, and ill-fitting bras in any brand or condition and transforms them into something better for the planet.
While Wacoal hasn’t clarified until when they’ll be accepting donations of old bras this year, the Bra Recycling Campaign typically runs from July until September.
If you’re thinking of donating your old bras, you can follow these steps:
Wacoal uses these old bras for fuel conversion and material recycling. Your old bra will be broken down and turned into a type of alternative fuel called “Fluff Fuel” used in cement production. In some cases, they might be recycled to create new materials like recycled yarn which can be used to manufacture new clothing items.

Our bras have always been there for us so it’s only right that we return the favor when it’s time to give them their well-earned rest. Thanks to Wacoal’s Bra Recycling campaign, helping our old bras find a new life while helping the planet has never been easier.
