That’s exactly why brands like Angkas is so popular. They’re experts at hijacking trends and using it to relate to their audience and promote their services. But if you think Angkas is unhinged, you probably haven’t seen the Wendy’s Facebook page. And once you do, you’ll be asking “What on earth is going on?”

Since we have a lot of time on our hands, we attempted to figure out the lore. The Wendy’s account seems to be “hacked” by a personality named “Wendall” who is in a relationship with “Bob.” Wendall has beef with a certain “Deborah” and is friends with another woman called “Barb.” Oh, and Wendall also has a nephew named *check’s notes* “Jargons.”

Even if you scroll far enough to posts made early this year, you’d be hard pressed to find ones that actually promote the Wendy’s menu. It’s as if the social media team is 100% committed to the “hacked” persona. Does the audience like this? You bet. One of Wendall’s posts even reached 61k reactions! Maybe these are the risks you can take when you’re a well-established name in the industry.
