If you find yourself attracting clingy stray cats like a magnet, you’re probably in for an overdose of cute purrs, persistent paw-taps, and whiskers invading your personal space. But what does it mean when a stray cat is extra clingy? Is there a scientific explanation behind it? Well, an online discussion may have just cracked the code behind this ~*meownificent*~ phenomenon.
In a tweet, netizen Maladroithe wrote that after working in animal rescue, she has found out that the reason behind stray cats’ clinginess is simple: pregnancy. “There’s a pretty decent chance that cat is pregnant and is looking for a safe place to have her babies,” she wrote.
One thing I’ve learned in animal rescue: if a stray cat starts clinging to you like a life raft, trying to break into your home, being incredibly affectionate and talkative, there’s a pretty decent chance that cat is pregnant and is looking for a safe place to have her babies

She encouraged people must take them to a veterinarian to get checked immediately. What looks like a simple tweet became a dawning realization for many because they have also experienced this scenario.
The tweet drew massive attention from netizens. They reminisce about their experiences of fur-filled miracles and how they transformed their humble homes into little feline maternity wards. Bonds that brought them lifelong purring companions.
“In our case, it was a stray [cat] who gave birth in our sunroom, stayed until the kittens were weaned, and then vanished. Never saw her again, but the kittens are all fixed in their new, loving homes.” one netizen wrote.
Yeah, sometime the surprise pet comes with bonus pets! In our case it was a stray who gave birth in our sunroom, stayed until the kittens were weaned, and then vanished. Never saw her again but the kittens are all fixed in their new, loving homes. pic.twitter.com/JJg385Sg6a

Can confirm, this girl showed up out of nowhere a few years ago and i started feeding her. Two months later i was finding homes for her and her five babies, who were all shacked on my porch🖤 pic.twitter.com/me0RtD1pdU

We’re not crying, you are. 😭
We do this on my block where we leave food bowls for them and set aside boxes and stuff for them to sleep in since the vet advised we not take them in the home since many seemed to be street cats for years. They all have their babies in our front garden or garage tho 😭😭

Salute for people doing the heavens’ work!
Yep. Got bamboozled by this fluffy black lady midwinter in the city. Took her in, gave her lots of love and food, and two months later, baby! Still have both 🥰 pic.twitter.com/tibt8sCapq

And they look so adorable!
Although there are numerous studies on the behavior of cats, it’s tough to say if they really possess the power to discern the right home to give birth to their kittens. However, in a world where graphic videos of animal torture circulate online and are glorified by very questionable individuals, stories of stray cats finding homes prove kindness still live among us.
