8. He is proactive.

Other people might be passive in the middle of crisis, but not our good Senator, you see. Koko Pimentel is proactive. So proactive, in fact, that not even a quarantine while dealing with a deadly, contagious disease could stop him from doing what he has to do. Lesser men may be stopped by things like laws and being a decent human being, but not our good Senator, no siree. Those S&R groceries aren’t going to buy themselves, y’know?

 

7. He is larger than life.

How else could you possibly explain the fact that while mere mortals such as us need to be on death’s door before we could be considered for a COVID-19 test, he gets one without having to fall in line, and promptly ignores quarantine while still unsure if he’s got the disease? This is a man who’s simply larger than life, and he emanates it everywhere he goes. After all, why else would a known Person Under Investigation be even allowed to enter a hospital, if not for his sheer charisma and magnetic personality?

 

6. He is intelligent.

People want to call him “bobo” because they think he had no idea what he was doing when he went inside Makati Medical Center knowing full well he might be sick with COVID-19, but this man is anything but stupid. He is a bar top-notcher. He is an attorney. He is a former senate president.

This means that anything he did, he did with full knowledge and with full malice, since stupidity could not possibly be an excuse. No way.

 

5. He is a family man.

This man loves his (second) wife so much, nothing could stop him from being there for her as she gives birth.

Not the possibility that he could pass COVID-19 on to her and to their yet-unborn child.

Not the risk of spreading the same disease to medical practitioners who are already finding their numbers depleted with 9 of 38 deaths to COVID-19 coming from their ranks.

Certainly not the risk of breaking the law, which he clearly did.

All for his family. Oh, if only the Filipino people as a whole were his family too!

 

4. He is resilient.

Amid calls for him to resign, calls for him to recognize the wrong he did, Senator Koko Pimentel has nothing but excuses. He does not falter. He does not flinch. He is truly resilient when it comes to anyone for a single minute hoping he would have a shred of accountability in him. It certainly doesn’t hurt that the people who have the power to remove him from office or arrest him suddenly turned “compassionate” after cheering on the killing of merely suspected drug personalities as a good thing for the last three or so years. What’s a little double standards when it comes to serving justice, right? None of this will ever faze him.

This man is fortitude personified, folks. He will not give in to weakness.

 

3. He is exceptional.

Let’s face it: this man is truly exceptional. See how many exceptions he’s been given lately? Other people get arrested for breaking quarantine, he doesn’t. Other people would realize that being in quarantine and taking a test for COVID-19 means you might have it, so leaving your house is the worst thing you could do, he doesn’t.

Heck, other people would be embarrassed by now with what they did and maybe resign over it, but he clearly won’t. Truly exceptional, this man.

 

2. He is viral.

His popularity knows no bounds in the last couple of days alone. Everyone is talking about him on TV, on radio, and certainly on the internet.

This man is truly a viral sensation, and in more ways than one.

 

1. He can unite the nation.

Everyone else is divided in opinion about the president. Or the vice president. In this time of trouble, here is one man who has bridged the political divide between the so-called DDS, Diliwans, and everyone else in between. Senator Koko Pimentel has managed to make both Mocha Uson and Pinoy Ako Blog actually agree on something!

Nation, Koko Pimentel has truly helped this nation heal in the middle of this crisis, and come together. All of us are thinking about him the exact same way. And that is beautiful.
