Infomercials can be great fun to watch. More often than not, the products presented on TV seem like genius ideas, perfect for personal use. Given the way the universe works, it doesn’t come as a surprise to learn that a lot of these infomercials are guilty of false advertising. While some products on the market actually work and are pretty awesome, some products look stupid from the get-go. Makes you wonder who approved these ideas. There are tons of dumb As-Seen-On-TV products that are ridiculous, but these 8 take the cake.

8. Skinnies Instant Arm Lift

Have sagging arms? Well, the people at Skinnies Instant Arm Lift can fix that! NOT! This is an insulting, inefficient and downright lazy product that the creators should be ashamed of. They basically “designed” a kind of tape that you’re supposed to place on the back of your sagging arm and then follow it up by giving it a gentle lift for an illusion of younger looking arms. It’s just tape, for crying out loud. Users described it as hard to use and painful. It’s also a very degrading and unpractical product that shouldn’t have seen the light of day. Oh, and get this—they’ve got thigh lifts as well.

7. Air Curler

False advertising at it’s very finest! It looks like a beaker that you’re supposed to attach to a blow-dryer. It promises to give you luscious curls within seconds. Except that it doesn’t. The ludicrous device makes you look like Edward Scissorhands. It just doesn’t work. For that cheap, and with that cringe-worthy design, it’s best just to opt for a regular curling iron. Keep away from the Air Curler, ladies.

6. Go-Go Pillow

So it’s basically a case for your tablet. The question is–why on earth is it a pillow? It looks cool and all, but honestly, it’s a dumb idea. First of all, its design blocks access to some of the tablet’s controls. It also lays the tablet flat instead of propping it up like an ideal case would aka most other cases in the market. It’s more of a hindrance than it is a convenience, so do yourself a favor and invest in something else.

5. Fat Magnet

Ah, the Fat Magnet. Looking like a device from the future, the Fat Magnet was designed to absorb the excess fat from greasy food through the use of magnets. Riiiiight. Well, it was tested by lots of buyers and basically what it did was wipe the top layer of grease off of the pot. It didn’t suck the fat out like the creators promised, which is something you can easily do with a paper towel. There you have it folks, the Fat Magnet–ineffective, overpriced and a complete waste of time!
