You’re half-way through this week of ECQ, which is a feat in and of itself. But if you need some cheering up — getting stuck at home yet again is frustrating, we know — we’ve rounded up some of the best news we’ve seen on our timelines this week. We’ve got new music, kilig proposals, hilarious song covers, and a premiere date for one of the best TV shows ever. Read on!
No one saw the Derek Ramsey and Ellen Adarna romance coming, but it looks like the two have finally found what they’re looking for. After their photos together set the internet abuzz in January2021, the couple made their relationship public in late February 2021. And a month later, Derek popped the question. It’s easy to be cynical and haters gonna hate, but guess it’s true what they say — if you know, you know.
Here’s a new song to add to your playlist. Rising producer/singer-songwriter raven teams up with indie-pop artists Naila and somere on the new single “S.U.K.I.”—released on Mar. 25 via Sony Music Philippines. To think that this bop started as a random challenge on Rico Blanco’s TikTok! The alternative rock icon posted an instrumental late last year which garnered over 2.8 million views and raven, a multi-instrumentalist and singer/rapper, took the challenge to write a verse over it. Fast forward to the present and we’ve got this collab.
“’S.U.K.I.’ was actually based from my own personal experience,” says raven. “I wrote it as a tribute to a young love that didn’t end up pretty well, despite trying everything to make it work.”
Up-and-coming singer-songwriters Naila and somere completed the musical narrative by writing and singing their own verse on the rap ballad, giving the material a refreshing perspective that complements raven’s bedroom pop treatment. Listen to “S.U.K.I.” on all digital platforms!
The timeline was, naturally, emo. But then Lucifer dropped a bomb that Netflix will be premiering the second half of Season 5 on May 28. And now everyone is torn between rejoicing and being sad. But at least May 28th is less than two months away!

It was a long six days but the Ever Given has finally been freed from the Suez Canal. The Suez Canal Authority employed the Dutch dredging and heavylift company Boskalis to assist.

There was a time when news like a whole cargo ship getting stuck in the Suez Canal — one of the most important waterways worldwide — was going to make headlines for weeks. But now that we’re in the middle of the pandemic, that’s just regular news. Anyway, in case you were following, the colossal 200,000 ton Ever Given cargo ship is now free. It spent almost a week lodged in the banks of the Suez Canal no thanks to a sandstorm. Ever Given blocked the path of about 420 ships and “cost billions of dollars in maritime commerce.” But thanks to the equally gargantuan efforts of authorities round the clock, the nightmare ended.
