8 Signs Ethel Booba is Your Spirit Animal

Jun 8, 2019   •   Tim Henares

From being the object of Willie Revillame’s infamous “you don’t do that to me” speech to gaining a cult following for her witticisms, Ethel Booba is slaying it right now. And here’s the great news: for some of us, we have every opportunity to be just as awesome as she is, because there could very well be an Ethel Booba in us, too, but not in that way.

Here are 8 signs that your Spirit Animal just so happens to be Ethel Booba, as opposed to, say, Barbie Forteza or Scarlet Snow Belo.

You know how to reinvent yourself

Ganda naman this gurl. Charot! pic.twitter.com/WAPRx2cbq8

— Ethel Booba (@IamEthylGabison) June 4, 2019

Prior to the last few years, Ethel Booba was known for grabbing headlines solely due to her controversies: she’s had public blow-ups with her ex-boyfriend, she allegedly attempted to commit arson, and so much more. Still, she didn’t let all of that define her, because she knows she’s worth far more than her worst moments. Instead, anyone who has Ethel Booba as their Spirit Animal would seek to reinvent themselves so that everyone would remember them fondly instead of infamously.

You know how to laugh at yourself

Rocky po. Charot! https://t.co/4yVAmcqkNP

— Ethel Booba (@IamEthylGabison) June 5, 2019

From people laughing at you, learn to laugh with them, and soon enough, they will be laughing with you. The minute people realize you’re in on the joke, they quickly realize that you’re not easy to faze, because you know your shortcomings, and you know how to move past them.

Your rapier wit is never mean-spirited

Hindi po ako ang may ari ng Facebook account/page na yan. Wala akong blog sa Facebook. Charot! https://t.co/XBNw88spbx

— Ethel Booba (@IamEthylGabison) June 5, 2019

It’s easy to use your wit to put down and denigrate others. It’s so much more difficult to take your unique way with words, and instead expose the truths without being vicious about it. It’s that touch of class that makes one ironically even more savage.

You don’t have an overestimated perception of yourself

Their plan is to discredit me. Ako kasi dinadaan ko sa pajokes lang ang tweet sila serious mode na kaya lalong napipikon. Charot! https://t.co/4AzeaAX68v

— Ethel Booba (@IamEthylGabison) June 4, 2019

Ethel Booba knows she’s a comedienne, and not a sage, much less the absolute authority on anything. The fact is, the more she reminds people to take her opinions with a grain of Charot, the more people listen, because her opinions and thoughts are as real as can be, instead of someone’s canned thoughts, just run through a script everyone has to comply with. Ethel is the epitome of “you do you.”

You are unflappable

I try to be a nice person but sometimes my mouth/Twitter account doesn’t cooperate. Charot!

— Ethel Booba (@IamEthylGabison) March 18, 2017

If you’re Ethel Booba, you’ve been through so much worse than someone saying mean things to you on Twitter. So why should it ruin your day? It doesn’t, and instead, you get to draw a few laughs about it instead, because if you can overcome Alex Crisano, you can overcome anything.

You stick to your strengths

May mga tweets dito sa notification ko na nakatag kami ni Angel Locsin na nambabash at hindi about sa opinyon ang tweet nila. Karamihan newly created account sila. Debate ba matatawag ang pagmumura? Charot! https://t.co/yAQmmGjqrj

— Ethel Booba (@IamEthylGabison) June 2, 2019

If you know you’re excellent at dishing out witticisms, why bother engaging in an academic debate? The fact is, you know where you stand, you know what you’re good at, so any attempt at going outside your wheelhouse just doesn’t work. So why even bother?

You are an open book

Pornhub. Rerenew pa lang ako ng contract. Charot! https://t.co/XtpQVJYFEP

— Ethel Booba (@IamEthylGabison) June 3, 2019

Your past, your present, and your future are not a mystery. Your stand, your beliefs, your everything is all out there for you to see. You have nothing to hide, and in opening yourself to everyone, nothing is sweeter than being accepted for it. Woe betide anyone who calls you out, because they’re not going to say anything that would shock anyone.

You know you’re allowed to change your mind

Charot! https://t.co/E7KrPXZ5bd

— Ethel Booba (@IamEthylGabison) June 4, 2019

If you knew who Ethel Booba voted for Vice President in 2016 and what she has to say now, you’d realize that she changed her mind somewhere along the way. And we have to respect that yes, people can and are allowed to change their minds, because people learn and people get better. So let’s all be better.
