In Korea, she already goes by the stage name Chanty. Her agency has released video clips of Chanty and her fellow trainees even before the announcement of their debut, so there’s plenty of content to go around, all on top of her career in the Philippines before. This is her showing off her vocal skills through a cover of “Part of Your World.”
Chanty was born on December 15, 2022, so she’s a Sagittarius. She recently celebrated her 19th birthday, but she’s considered 21 in Korean age. (In Korea, newborn babies are considered 1 year old already, and they age up at the start of the year regardless of their birthday)
Chanty is the eldest member in Lapillus, so she’s everyone’s unnie! She’s only a few months older than fellow member Shana.
Chanty was born to a Filipino mother and an Argentinian father. She spent a lot of time in the Philippines, even graduating from high school and trying out acting here. But Chanty also frequently visits her father’s homeland. She was just there in early 2021!
This is Chanty at the ABS-CBN Ball 2019. ICYMI, before she became a trainee in Korea, she started an acting career here in the Philippines. Chanty was part of the Star Circle Batch 2018, which led her to roles in ABS-CBN television series Spirits: Reawaken, Hiwagat ng Kambat, and Starla.
You may have seen her in music videos, displaying her acting prowess. Chanty has appeared in the “Dear You” music video of Korean duo JT&MARCUS, who are her labelmates under MLD Entertainment. She also starred in their second music video for the song “First,” where she captured viewers with her expressive eyes.
MLD Entertainment described Lapillus as a “global girl group”, as the members are able to speak Korean, English, Spanish, Filipino, Chinese, and Japanese.
Well, Chanty can already speak four of those languages: Korean, English, Spanish, and Filipino. She learned Spanish from her paternal heritage, while Filipino comes from her maternal side. English probably came easy after getting bilingual education in the Philippines. And Chanty said she learned Korean while watching K-dramas (her favorites are Goblin, Descendants of the Sun, and It’s Okay Not to Be Okay!), though she added that she’s still working on her Korean speaking skills.
Chanty is just like many of us. She loves K-dramas and K-pop, and when you ask her who her favorite Korean group is? She’d probably answer that she’s an ARMY! While playing a game with actress and fellow ARMY Vivoree Esclito, Chanty revealed that her bias is V or Kim Taehyung, as she displayed all her BTS merchandise.
Chanty has a Youtube vlog series called “ChanSha World” with Japanese trainee Nonaka Shana, a contestant of idol survival series Girls Planet 999. Nonaka will also debut with Chanty in Lapillus. They started posting videos in the series in December 2021, with the latest episode released just a few days before their debut announcement.
Lapillus is set to debut in June. More teasers are being released on their social media accounts.
