We get it. Sometimes, we hear things in different languages that really make us do a double take because they sound like something else to us altogether. Let’s be immature and indulge in 8 recent examples of just that. (A huge thanks to my Facebook friends who helped me assemble this list – I’d share the byline with all of you if I could, you monsters!)
What It Actually Is: A movie about a chupacabra, which is an infamous creature in Brazil that sucks the life out of goats, hence the name. It’s actually going to be shown on Netflix this coming April, and it’s what inspired this whole list.
What We End Up Thinking: You know exactly what we end up thinking, and that sucks.
What It Actually Is: A street in jolly old England. It may or may not be near a restaurant named “Inamo,” which makes this entry a two-fer.
What We End Up Thinking: Chos.
Who It Actually Is: The son of the legendary Manute Bol, who was the tallest basketball player to ever join the NBA. Standing at 7’2, Bol currently plays for the Orlando Magic.
What We End Up Thinking: It’s getting really hairy writing this 8List and coming up with all sorts of euphemisms to keep things family-friendly and educational.
@shinazhinxi08 Meet Peck Peck the Woodpecker 🤣😂 #onlyfilipinoknows #onlyfilipinosunderstand #hophoptheowl #fyp #cartoons #awkward ♬ Funny Kids – Children’s Music
Who It Actually Is: A woodpecker in the animated video called Hop Hop the Owl, Peck-Peck is featured in one episode because he needs a thorough washing after playing all day.
What We End Up Thinking: Well, to be fair, Peck-Peck definitely could use a wash in that episode…
What It Actually Is: A popular brand of plastic wrap.
What We End Up Thinking: An impossible command without surgical assistance.
What It Actually Is: A clothing brand in Italy.
What We End Up Thinking: Good for you, Premaman. Whoever you are.
What It Actually Is: A collagen brand supplement, recommended for relieving joint pain.
What We End Up Thinking: How appropriate this supplement apparently is for exactly what we’re thinking.
What It Actually Is: An island in Pakistan that literally showed up from out of nowhere in 2013 after an earthquake. Kuya Kim even reported about it on TV Patrol.
What We End Up Thinking: Good for you, Kuya Kim.
