Blackpink Jisoo fans all over the world are in various states of kilig following her agency’s announcement that she is in a relationship with South Korea actor Ahn Bo Hyun. YG Entertainment and Bo Hyun’s agency, FN Entertainment confirmed the news saying the pair is “getting to know each other with positive feelings.” While the whole world is yet to find out about how Jisoo, 28, and Bo Hyun, 35, met, where have you seen her new boyfriend before? These K-dramas might be the answer.
Bo Hyun’s latest K-drama, See You in My 19th Life, is his third time in a lead role. He plays Moon Seo Ha, the heir of a rich family who suffers from trauma from a car accident. The 12-episode series also stars Shin Hye Sun (The Legend of the Blue Sea) and is inspired by a webtoon of the same name. If you want to see Bo Hyun’s acting chops in this one, it’s available for streaming on Netflix.
Bo Hyun also landed main roles in both seasons of the romance drama Yumi’s Cells. His character, Goo Woong is a game developer that’s in a relationship with Yumi (Kim Go Eun, Goblin). Bo Hyun seems like the quintessential K-drama male lead — a tall, broad-shouldered, clean-looking guy who dedicates his whole life to pursuing his girl. And we can’t help but wish that he and Jisoo would be cast in a rom-com K-drama together. But while we’re waiting, you can stream Yumi’s Cells on iQIYI.
Action and crime drama My Name gave everyone a chance to see Bo Hyun act as a serious and persistent detective with his character Jeon Pil Do. He stars opposite Han So Hee (Nevertheless), his love interest and partner in the drug investigation unit. It’s dark, gritty, and fast-paced a.k.a just the right drama to show the world Bo Hyun’s versatility. Watch My Name on Netflix.
In 2020, Bo Hyun got to share the screen with South Korean beloved actors like Park Seo Joon, Kim Da Mi, and Kwon Na Ra. He portrays Jang Geun Won, the troubled son of a CEO and the heir of the Jangga Group. If you haven’t seen Itaewon Class yet, we’re warning you know, you might hate Bo Hyun’s character! But isn’t that a testament to how well one is acting? This K-drama is available on Netflix.
Bo Hyun won a 2020 MBC Drama Award for Best Actor for his role in the fantasy-thriller drama, Kairos. He portrayed Seo Do Gyun, a supporting character who works at a construction company together with the main lead. Kairos is an interesting series that attempts to answer the most bizarre question: What would you do if you found out you can communicate with someone who lives one month ahead?
If you were hooked on Park Min Young and Kim Jae Wook’s 2019 drama, Her Private Life, you’ve already seen Bo Hyun in action. His supporting role character, Nam Eun Gi, is an Olympic silver medalist in judo who was abandoned at the hospital as a child. But he grows up to be a playful and mischievous boy. Cute scenes where he teases Park Min Young will make you wonder if he’s that playful with Jisoo too.
We’re convinced EXO stans who watched Dokgo Rewind to see their idol Oh Se Hun also fell in love with Bo Hyun in the process. The series, which is based on a webtoon of the same name, is an action drama exploring bullying and violence among students in school. It’s another serious watch but an equally great performance from Bo Hyun nonetheless.
Yep, that’s right, Bo Hyun also starred in the 2016 hit drama, Descendants of the Sun, alongside Song Joong Ki. His character, Im Kwang Nam a.k.a. Piccolo, was part of Big Boss’ company although we don’t see much of him. Bo Hyun also said in an interview that after filming for the drama, he had to work multiple part-time jobs to make ends meet since he wasn’t a well-known actor yet. But fast forward to 2023, and he’s now one of the top South Korean actors plus he’s in a relationship with one of the leading women in K-pop!
