We’re still on a high from the weekend, thanks to Queen IU. MA-AENAs (a.k.a. the Filipino fans of IU) only had one day with the Korean superstar, but we definitely made the most out of it. Here are our 8 most memorable highlights from the IU HEREH World Tour in Manila:
All through out the concert, IU spoke several times in Filipino. From common phrases like “namiss ko kayong lahat” and “mahal kita” to even learning what “walang uuwi” means, IU seemed like a local! And we MA-AENAs can’t be any prouder.
After the translator conveyed how good the audience is, IU said “so good” isn’t enough to express how amazing MA-AENAs are. She then said in Korean, “It’s really heaven here,” which the translator relayed and IU repeated: “Kayo ang langit ko.” Kilig so much!
On top of IU speaking in Filipino, she even sang a song by an OPM artist! Ma-aenas were so surprised and so kilig when IU performed Sunkissed Lola’s “Pasilyo.” IU even said she was so happy while singing the song!
Here’s the band’s cute reaction to IU’s cover. Hoping we also get a cover of an IU song from Sunkissed Lola!

Throughout the 3-hour show, fans have chanted IU’s name to cheer for the singer. The loud chants brought a smile to her face, and IU happily matched MA-AENAs’ energy and cheered for “Manila! Manila! Manila!”
While IU has retired “Good Day” from her concert setlists, MA-AENAs wanted to give her a surprise and serenade her with our rendition of the song. We might have missed a lot of the verse’s lyrics, but we slayed the chorus, as IU herself said. “Isn’t the chorus harder?” IU commented through a translator before complimenting the audience for singing so well.
Through fan organization IU Philippines, Filipino fans have prepared several events for IU. One is the slogan, which had back-to-back prints: a “Shopper”-inspired dollar bill and a touching message for IU during “I Stan U” that read “IU, who stans UAENAs, we’re stanning you too!”.

After performing each song, IU complimented the slogans, even saying she feels rich with all the dollar bill slogans facing her. “To whoever thought of this idea, thank you so much. I was very happy,” she also said about the touching message.
During the second encore (a.k.a. en-encore), paired with a more casual outfit of a tour merch shirt and jeans, IU wore a fanmade Tweety x IU headband. Her love for Tweety is no secret, even having the character as her Instagram profile picture for the longest time and getting a merch collaboration!
Speaking of the en-encore, where she usually takes song requests from the audience, IU performed seven songs (!!!), namely: “Someday” (from Dream High OST), “Give You My Heart” (from Crash Landing on You OST), “LILAC”, “strawberry moon”, a rock version of “Well…”, and “Palette”. She also performed a verse of “My Sea”, and after she noted how it was a popular request among MA-AENAs (I myself put up a banner requesting the song!), IU promised to come back to Manila, wear a beautiful dress, and sing the whole song for us. As a “My Sea” enthusiast, I say, yes please!
During the first encore, where she sang “Shh..”, “Twenty-Three”, and a rock version of “Holssi”, IU said she was so impressed with MA-AENAs. “Among all the other tours I’ve been to, you are the best. You are perfect. You are No.1! I’m giving you 300 points!”
And later, during the en-encore, IU even said that she was so happy she wants to come back next month. Just say the word, Queen IU, and we’ll be there!

While next month probably won’t be feasible due to her existing tour dates, IU did promise she won’t wait five years again before coming back to Manila, which was met with a staggering round of cheers and applause. Don’t worry, IU; we MA-AENAs will always patiently wait for you, but we’d love it if you do come back soon. We miss you already!
