Gymnast Carlos Yulo made history last weekend as he became the first Filipino and first Southeast Asian gymnast to win not just one but two Olympic gold medals at Paris 2024. There has been an outpour of congratulatory messages from all over the world, but brands in the Philippines are taking things to the next level with gold medal-worthy rewards. PH government – 10 million pesos (at least)

Under the Republic Act 10699 or National Athletes and Coaches Benefits and Incentives Act, Olympic gold medalists are entitled to 10 million pesos and an Olympic Gold Medal of Valor from the Philippine Sports Commission.

While it is unclear whether the 10 million cash reward will be doubled if an athlete wins two gold medals in one year, many netizens believe it should be so.

House of Representatives – 6 million pesos

The House of Representatives committed to awarding PHP 3 million to gold medallists. The amount has been doubled thanks to Yulo’s two gold medals.

Philippine Olympic Committee – house and lot

Megaworld – 3 million pesos in cash and fully furnished three-bedroom McKinley Hill condo worth 32 million pesos

The reward was originally a fully-furnished two-bedroom condo unit in McKinley Hill, BGC worth 24 million pesos, but it has been upgraded due to Yulo winning two golds.
