Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G Review: Should You Buy?

What are its key features? How does it do compared to its predecessor? Here’s our review of the new Xiaomi phone:

Design and durability

The Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G features an all-star armor structure with curved edges and solid metal frame construction protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the front and polished polycarbonate material on the back. While the curved edges may not be everyone’s cup of tea, you might find that it helps make gripping the phone easier.

With IP68 water and dust resistance, the phone can withstand rain exposure, accidental splashes, and dust from everyday activities.

It is available in three colors: Midnight Black, Lavender Purple, and Coral Green. We got a chance to test the Lavender Purple, and it is definitely a gorgeous color you’d want to bring anywhere and everywhere.

Display

In terms of display, the Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G delivers with its 6.67-inch 1.5k Resolution CrystalRes AMOLED Display with up to 120Hz refresh rate and 3,000 nits peak brightness (a huge improvement from the previous model’s 1800 nits). So you can enjoy watching shows or playing games with clear, crisp, and vibrant images.

Performance

With a MediaTek Dimensity 7300-Ultra and Octa-core Processor up to 2.5GHz, the Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G strikes a good balance between performance and battery efficiency. So you can enjoy playing your games without draining your battery.

Battery

Speaking of battery, the Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G is packed with a 5110mAh battery, which is the highest energy density battery in the history of the Redmi Note lineup — enough to last you all day. But in case you need some charge, you can easily and quickly charge the phone with its 45W Turbo charging support (though this is a downgrade from the previous model’s 67W).

Camera

It actually has the same camera configuration as last year’s Redmi Note 13 Pro+: 200MP AI main camera, 8MP ultrawide camera, and 2MP macro camera. In case you’re curious what the 4th camera is for, that’s actually not a camera, but the dual LED flash.

With an ultra-clear 200-megapixel camera with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) as its main camera, you can capture clear and vibrant photos with ultra-high resolution. The zoom can go up to 30x for photos and 6x for videos, though of course the maximum zoom can get quite pixelated.

AI-powered

On top of its powerful camera, the Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G also offers image-related AI features like AI Eraser Pro, AI Image Expansion, AI Bokeh, AI Cutout, AI Film, AI Beautify, and more.

Its operating system HyperOS also comes with Google Gemini, allowing you to use its AI capabilities like Gemini Extensions, Overlay, Circle to Search, and Image Generation.

Verdict

While it may have a few shortcomings, the Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G delivers all-star reliability, durability, and efficiency you may need in a device.
