Not all heroes wear capes. Sometimes, they’re the people we meet every day: from street vendors and lobby guards to the delivery parcels for our online orders. Lalamove Philippines held its first-ever Heroes Behind the Wheel Film Fest, honoring the inspiring journeys of its partner drivers through short films where they starred in their own stories. Here’s how it went:

The real-life heroes

The festival was the culmination of the Search for the Next Lalamove Hero online contest, which invited drivers to share their “delivery hero” stories. From over 500 entries, five finalists from Manila, Pampanga, and Cebu were chosen to receive ₱20,000 cash prizes and have their stories turned into films.

“Maraming kwento ng totoong buhay ang ating mga partner drivers, and we want to take this opportunity to celebrate these stories and share them with others. They are our unsung heroes, and what makes this festival even more special is that sila mismo ang umarte sa kani-kanilang films,” said Djon Nacario, Managing Director of Lalamove Philippines.

“Our partner drivers work with dignity and persevere every day. By amplifying their real stories, we aim to improve morale within the community and remind the public that drivers are not just delivery riders—they are real people, with real dreams, who are part of a community that empowers others,” added Nacario.

Special awards

During the awarding, Diploma (Ang Kwento ni Jozel) received the DICT Choice, People’s Choice, and Media’s Choice Award, while Mark Ohoy won Best Actor for Ang Kwento ni Mark: Love is Blind. Other finalists included Valentine’s Day (Ang Kwento ni Jerome), Serbisyo (Ang Kwento ni Shane), and Kaagapay (Ang Kwento ni Deogratias).
