Ibiza

Ibiza (dir. Alex Richanbach) is the female version of The Hangover we never knew we needed. It stars Gillian Jacobs as Harper, an employee who gets sent to Barcelona for a business trip and brings along her two best friends. But when Harper falls for a DJ at a party one night, they find themselves heading straight to Ibiza. This film is great to watch on your barkada get-togethers at home, and then talk about your next spontaneous adventure together!

End Game

This documentary (dir. Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman) explores the different side of healthcare by featuring the stories and experiences of terminally ill patients and the hospice professionals who are determined to change these patients’ outlook on life and death.

Busted!

If you’re a fan of Korean variety shows like Running Man, Busted! should be next on your to-watch list. In each episode, cast members — which include Yoo Jae-suk, Lee Kwang-Soo, and EXO member Sehun — turn into sleuths who must solve a mystery murder case.

The Rain

Netflix is doing a great job lately in expanding their library to include foreign-made shows, and The Rain (created by Jannik Tai Mosholt, Esben Toft Jacobsen, and Christian Potalivo) is just one of those we can expect to become an instant hit, much like German sci-fi series Dark. This film follows a pair of siblings and a group of other survivors who become the last remaining humans in Scandanavia after a deadly virus wipes out the entire population. They then set out to find out whether or not a new world had begun somewhere else, all while battling their inner demons.

Cargo

Based on a viral short film back in 2013, Cargo (dir. Yolanda Ramke) is a zombie apocalypse-themed film that zeroes in on an infected father (Martin Freeman) who searches across Australia for a safe place to hide his infant daughter before the disease takes him over completely.

Anon

Can’t get enough of Black Mirror? Upcoming sci-fi thriller film Anon (dir. Andrew Niccol) may just satiate your longing for another story revolving around the disturbing usage and effect of technology. In a future where crime almost totally ceases to exist by eliminating the privacy and anonymity of every human being, Detective Sal Frieland (Clive Owen) discovers a young woman (Amanda Seyfried) with no identity or digital footprint who can hack and manipulate the reality of those who try to trace her.

Season Finales and Renewals

If there’s one thing to look forward to the most about May, it’s that we’ll be expecting a lot of season renewals and one finale of our favorite Netflix shows.

Scandal will be having its final run with Season 7 on May 19, while Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt will return with a fourth season on May 30.

13 Reasons Why will also be returning for a second season on May 18, as well as Dear White People: Vol. 2 on May 4. Japanese reality show Terrace House: Opening New Doors will air the next eight episodes of the season on May 22.
