There are some fandom-centric events that pop culture enthusiasts can never miss, and one of them is definitely D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, the biennial event for any certified Disney fan. More expansive and more immersive than ever before, the 2026 edition saw fans flock to Anaheim, California, for three packed days of showcases with stars and storytellers, sneak peeks and behind-the-scenes moments, thrilling performances, shopping, surprises, and more. Here are the most exciting announcements from the D23 weekend.

X-Men cast reveal

Marvel Studios has finally unveiled the core cast for its X-Men reboot. Fans are particularly excited about Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Christopher Abbott as Professor Charles Xavier, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, Maya Boyd as Storm, and Adam Driver as Mister Sinister.

Directed by Jake Schreier, the film is set for release on 5 May 2028.

First-look teaser footage of Avengers: Doomsday was screened to the excited screams of the D23 audience.

A teaser trailer for the Disney+ series VisionQuest dropped, confirming the return of James Spader as Ultron alongside Paul Bettany. The series premieres on 14 October 2026.

Frozen 3

The return of the record-breaking franchise featured a full production on stage, with live snippet performances from Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, and Josh Gad. Based on their teasers, the third installment will feature Anna and Kristoff’s wedding, a dark new female antagonist, and Olaf possibly getting a new love interest. The film is slated for release on 24 November 2027.

Star Wars: Starfighter

No one can stop Ryan Gosling from going to space (even if against his will *cough* Project Hail Mary *cough*). Good thing he’s excited to explore the Star Wars universe as Kade Auberon. Directed by Shawn Levy, the standalone film is set for release in May 2027.

Live-action Tangled

We finally got a glimpse of Teagan Croft as Rapunzel, Milo Manheim as Flynn Rider, and of course, the manifested-fancast Kathryn Hahn as Mother Gothel. Exclusive footage from the film has fans eagerly awaiting its release on 31 March 2028.

Pixar originals

Pixar sequels like Zootopia 3, Incredibles 3 (June 2028), and Coco 2 (November 2029), have people eagerly waiting, but fans were extra excited by the fresh premise of two films: Ghost Market, a film directed by Trevor Jimenez and Jesse Andrews, following a young boy named Kyle who discovers a haunted market in Hawaii, and Gatto, a film directed by Enrico Casarosa following a Venetian stray cat voiced by Mark Ruffalo and a cat mob boss voiced by Laurence Fishburne.

Kingdom Hearts 4

Yes, the long-awaited Kingdom Hearts 4 gameplay trailer is finally here! Gamers and Disney fans alike went wild, especially when the trailer was immediately followed by the surprise announcement of an official animated series coming to Disney+.

New rides and attractions at Disney Parks around the world

Disney Experiences unveiled new rides and overhauls across its theme parks around the globe. We’re particularly excited about the new Avengers Pavilion testing lab experience in Hong Kong Disneyland and a web-slinging roller coaster anchoring the brand-new Spider-Man-themed land in Shanghai Disneyland Park.

Tokyo Disneyland is also getting Sugar Rush: Sweet Rescue (inspired by Wreck-It Ralph) and a reimagining of the beloved rollercoaster, now to be called Space Mountain Earthrise.

Park enthusiasts are also particularly thrilled about Journey Into Imagination, the upcoming updated version of the classic EPCOT ride that officially brings back Dreamfinder alongside Figment to Walt Disney World in Florida, USA.

More fan events to come

ICYDK, D23 is Disney’s official fan club made by fans for fans. The name “D23” pays homage to the exciting journey that began in 1923 when Walt Disney opened his first studio in Hollywood. To celebrate with fans, Disney organizes D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event every two years.

Following the event’s success in California, USA, D23 is coming to Singapore, marking its first return to Asia in nine years. D23 Asia: The Ultimate Fan Event will take place at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore, from June 25 to 27, 2027.

D23 Asia is also part of D23’s continued expansion to bring fan events to destinations around the globe, including the recent D23 Brazil: A Disney Experience.

Tickets for D23 Asia will be available for purchase this November 2026.
