Breaking Hearts: Song-Song Couple Split, WALANG FOREVER Trends

As quick as their wedding announcement, came another announcement that had fans shookt: Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo have reportedly filed for a divorce on June 26, putting an end to their fairytale romance.

Joong Ki has since released a statement apologizing to his heartbroken fans and asking them to understand that it is “difficult at the moment to discuss the personal details of his life”. Hye Kyo for her part released a statement through her agency that the reason behind the split is because of “differences in personality” that the ex-couple “could not overcome.”

When the pair got married back on October 31, 2017, it was like the conclusion to a happily-ever-after movie, or in their case, a TV series. They starred in the 2016 hit K-Drama Descendants of the Sun and shortly after, announced that they were getting married. Fans of the series were overjoyed, rarely did it happen that the two lead stars in a drama got together in real life and actually end up getting married.

But with recent developments, maybe it’s time we heed Summer Finn’s (from 500 Days of Summer) words: “There’s no such thing as love, it’s a fantasy.”
