Mark Your Calendars: Here’s Makati’s Festive Line Up for the 2024 Holidays

Nov 7, 2024   •   Kyzia Maramara

Christmas has officially begun! Make It Makati and Ayala Land make Christmas happen once again, and this time with bigger and brighter experiences like never before. A Radiant Holiday Experience in Makati just kicked off last November 6, with the city-wide lighting from Ayala Avenue, Ayala Triangle Gardens, to more parts of Makati, transforming the city into a picturesque holiday haven. This season, the city sparks new experiences—yet rooted in tradition—immersing Makatizens in meaningful and beautiful moments.

The festive ceremonial affair for the parol lights last November 6 was led by the representatives of Ayala Land, including Jaime Zobel de Ayala, Sofia Zobel Elizalde, Bianca Zobel de Ayala, Ayala Land President and CEO Meean Dy, Ayala Land Senior Vice President and head of Leasing and Hospitality Mariana Zobel de Ayala, Ayala Land Estates Head Chris Maglanoc, together with local government partner led by Mayor Abby Binay, Vice Mayor Monique Lagdameo, 1st District of Makati Congressman Kid Pena, and 2nd District of Makati Congressman Luis Campos.

The event continued with vibrant musical performances from UST Singers, STEPS Dance Project, Arman Ferrer, Shiela Valderama, Kayla Rivera, Rony Fortich, and the Philippine Suzuki Youth Orchestra, as they graced Tower One and Exchange Plaza’s fountain area, setting the tone for what Makatizens can enjoy in the days to come. This season, Makati shines a spotlight on local talent with daily performances at Ayala Triangle Gardens.

Makati is unveiling a spectacular display of Christmas lighting, illuminating more places than ever before! From the Makati Central Business District (MCBD) to Circuit Makati, the city glows a warm and inviting atmosphere, welcoming everyone to come together and remember the essence of the season.

Over the decades, Makati has become a beloved holiday destination, thanks to its elaborate, eye-catching decorations—a tradition that began in Ayala Avenue in the early 1990s. Serving as a cultural landmark, this annual display not only spreads holiday cheer but also reflects the Filipino’s strong sense of community, devotion to family, love for gatherings, and fondness for tradition.

Spanning the entire stretch of Ayala Avenue, at 1.9 kilometers, this year’s theme features a new design approach to traditional Filipino symbols. Trees adorned with Kapampangan parol-inspired patterns will twinkle alongside beloved classics, such as stars and capiz-adorned lights. Overall, the enchanting display honors the beauty and intricacy of Filipino heritage.

Another must-visit is Ayala Triangle Gardens, which presents a multi-sensory corridor designed to awaken the senses. Now featuring a refreshed approach to the yearly attraction, the garden is adorned with mirror frames emitting a neon glow, and starbursts cast a celestial radiance across the landscape. Beyond the sparkle of lights, the corridor incorporates elements that stimulate sight, scent, and sound—offering a medley of encounters and creating a truly one-of-a-kind experience.

The spirit of festivity extends to Jaime Velasquez (Salcedo) Park and Legaspi Park, where the holiday décors weave a magical tapestry throughout the MCBD. Furthermore, South Avenue reflects the awe of the season with parols stretching all the way to Circuit Makati, which stands as another wonderland, bedazzled with trees, lights, and glimmering installations.

The Gardens will transform into a grand stage featuring choirs, orchestras, singers, dancers, and theater performers every weekend.

The lineup includes Stellar Diva, Bituin Escalante with the Habemus Pappas, the Philippine Suzuki Youth Orchestra, the internationally acclaimed UST Singers, The Luminaries (Arman Ferrer, Floyd Tena, Shiela Valderrama-Martinez, Kayla Rivera, and Yanah Laurel), Ballet Manila, Steps Dance Project, balladeer Gian Magdangal, soprano Lara Maigue, the multi-awarded acapella group Acapellago, and many other renowned Filipino artists.

Then, on weekdays, the Gardens will showcase some of Makati’s well-known buskers—such as TetViolin, Rose Ko, and The Accordionist—who will bring the holiday spirit to life with unique performances. Caricature artist Random Smiles will also be present, creating festive portraits for all to enjoy.
