New Date Spot Alert: Cinema ’76 Has an Al Fresco Movie-Themed Cafe in Anonas

Jun 9, 2021   •   Kyzia Maramara

Dating in the middle of a pandemic is a challenge. The usual spots — cinemas, entertainment hubs, etc. — are still closed and you might not feel comfortable with indoor dining. On the other hand, hanging out at open-air parks is just like holding a placard that says “Heatstroke, I’m right here.” So it’s a pleasant surprise when the microcinema Cinema ’76 Film Society announced that they’re about to launch a new cafe. It just might be your next date spot. Check out the details here:

When are they opening?

Film production company TBA Studios has a new project — a cafe perfect for coffee and movie lovers. Cinema ’76 Cafe is set to have its soft launch this Friday, June 11.

Where is it located?

The cafe is located at the Cinema ’76 Anonas, Quezon City branch on the second floor of the building adjacent to the LRT station. For now, opening hours are limited from 1 pm to 7 pm only, Mondays to Fridays.

Interiors: coffee and movies

You’ll want to whip out your phone for the ‘Gram. Cinema ’76 Cafe has a movie theme that will call out to the souls of Filipino cinephiles. TBA Studio movie posters line the walls in one corner making for perfect conversation starters. The signs above the bar are inspired by vintage cinema signs. In the middle is a couch area which, according to Cinema Bravo, has the “signature couch seats of the two Cinema ’76 branches.” And overhead are strings of lights that add to the overall cozy and comfy look of the place.

What’s on the menu?

Cinema ’76 Cafe does not only offer great visuals, they’ve also got a menu that’s a glorious blend of good beverage and food. You can get your fix of Espresso (P50), Americano (P60+), and Cappucino (P80+). These and more drinks are available in hot and cold versions. You can also order frappes in flavors Chocolate (P150+), Popcorn (P200), and Hazelnut (P170).

Pair your choice of drink with pastries like their mouthwatering Mango Cake (P195/slice), Chocolate Chip Cookies (P70/pc), Blueberry Cheesecake (P205/slice), and more.

You can opt for dine-in, take-out, and delivery. As for payment options, you can pay with cash or via GCash and Lyka Gems.

Is it safe to visit?

Cinema ’76 Cafe has made sure that it will follow all the health and safety protocols of the new normal. Customers have to sign contact tracing forms, have their temperatures checked, and step on disinfectant mats before they’re allowed access. Bottles of rubbing alcohol are placed in strategic locations all over the cafe. To top it all off, it’s an alfresco dining spot too so you won’t have to fear circulating indoor air.

Cinema Bravo also assures everyone that staff from Cinema ’76 Cafe regularly clean and disinfect the surfaces of the store from top to bottom. And as an extra precaution, they also use air sterilizers and disinfecting machines.

But if you can’t visit, online deliveries are also available

Don’t worry if you can’t drop by, you can still get Cinema ’76 Cafe goodies online via direct order, GrabFood, and food panda delivery. Simply look them up on the app and you can get your fix of sweets in an hour tops. For direct order from the cafe, you can contact them through phone or Viber at 0906 236 2365 or send them a message on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram.

They’ve got merch over at Shopee too

Good news for those who are fans of the microcinema and who miss watching local films there! You can get C76-themed merch online at Cinema ’76’s official Shopee store. There are t-shirts, tote bags, face masks, caps, and DVDs for Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral, Heneral Luna, and Andres Bonifacio a.k.a Bayaniverse merch. You also get 60% off on all Bayaniverse merch when you purchase from June 6 – June 12, 2021!

Cinema ’76 @ Home

Via Cinema '76 at Home

And if you miss watching local indie films, you can always catch whatever’s screening online at Cinema ’76 @ Home. J.P. Habac’s Dito at Doon starring Janine Gutierrez and JC Santos is currently streaming until June 31, 2021.
