Anong class section mo nung nag-aaral ka pa? Class sections in Filipino schools are often something along the lines of virtues (e.g. patience, wisdom) or famous Filipino personalities (e.g. Jose Rizal, Andres Bonifacio). But this now-viral school in Cotabato puts a new twist to their class section names.
Albert Einstein School in Cotabato City went viral on social media for honoring modern Filipino personalities in their class sections.
Singer Jed Madela shared photos of a class named after him: Grade One Jed Madela. “In times when I feel so unimportant and ignored in one corner, my Lord picks me up and gives me the tightest hug. I am so honored,” the singer captioned.
Based on the photos, the class was named after him for being “the first Filipino to win the World Championships of Performing Arts” in 2005. His photos were also placed all around the classroom.
Jed Madela wasn’t the only personality who had a class named after him. According to the school’s Facebook page, they also named class sections after Fil-Am pop star Olivia Rodrigo, Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz, actress Jaclyn Jose, fashion designer Michael Cinco, boxer Manny Pacquiao and more. Here’s the complete list of class sections at Albert Einstein School:
The personality-based class section names are a new development. During the last school year (A.Y. 2021-2022), the school’s class sections were named after virtues like integrity and loyalty.
Of course, netizens couldn’t help but chime in with their own ideas on possible class section names.

Some suggested other Pinoy personalities, making popular references such as Gary V’s song “Lead Me Lord”, Alden Richards and the AlDub theme song “God Gave Me You”, Kim Chiu’s “Bawal lumabas” comment during lockdown, and most recently, Neri Naig’s 1,000-peso weekly meal plan.
Others made puns on the numbers, naming sections based on Pinoy acts Sexbomb Girls, 6cyclemind, IV of Spades, and even foreign acts like K-pop group Seventeen and Australian pop rock band 5 Seconds of Summer. Then, there’s the other set of number puns, inserting the number into the personality’s name itself, like Darren EspanTO and Nadine LusTRE.
Some have praised the class section naming, saying they’re happy that Pinoy personalities are being recognized. “Gusto ko ito. Mga local artist na may impact sa community or national artist na may greatest contribution sa bansa. Narerecognized ng mga bata,” a Facebook comment read.
Others, however, believe there are Filipino figures that should be recognized more. “I realised na hindi dapat ganito, kahit na maganda pa ang intention ng school to introduce personalities who brought pride to the country through their talents. We have so many heroes and historical icons na mas need pang i-promote,” a tweet read.
