Starring Noel Trinidad, Liza Lorena, Nonie Buencamino, Agot Isidro, Mylene Dizon, Nikki Valdez, James Blanco, and JC Santos, this 2022 Metro Manila Film Festival entry is a favorite tearjerker among its viewers. It follows the story of a family whose elderly father becomes afflicted with stroke. His children take turns in taking care of him, but as his condition worsens, his children and wife start to squabble among themselves, finding difficulty in adapting to the circumstances while living their own lives. Available on Prime Video on April 3.
Also known as Bora! Deborah, this Korean romantic comedy centers three vastly different individuals: around reputable dating coach Deborah (Yoo In-na), the prickly publishing planner Soo-hyuk (Yoon Hyun-min), and the publishing company head Sang-jin (Joo Sang-wook). Just when Deborah is expecting her perfect boyfriend of 8 years to pop the question, she suffers a humiliation and loses everything – not only her relationship, but her credentials as the best dating coach. To get her coaching published into a book, she works with publisher “Soo-hyuk,“ a man who despises her for giving his then-girlfriend a suggestion to leave him. Yikes! So of course, hijinks ensue. everything: drugs, lovers, and an unapologetic desire to do whatever it takes — including pushing the boundaries on medical ethics — all in an effort to challenge antiquated practices and bring women’s health care to the forefront. In addition to Weisz, the series also features an ensemble cast that includes Britne Oldford (The Umbrella Academy, American Horror Story: Asylum) as Genevieve, Poppy Liu (Hacks, iCarly) as Greta, Michael Chernus (Severance, Orange is the New Black) as Tom, Jennifer Ehle (Zero Dark Thirty, Saint Maud) as Rebecca, and Emily Meade (The Deuce, The Leftovers) as Susan.
