Once upon a time, Pinoy kids would cling to the remote so their parents wouldn’t switch the channel from Goin’ Bulilit to a boring grown-up TV show. Although the sketch comedy show bid goodbye to our screens in 2019, Goin’ Bulilit is set to make a comeback this July. Let’s look back at the show’s most iconic segments that shaped our collective sense of humor.
From “Ysabellat” (Ysabella), “Praningning” (Ningning), and “Powder at Langis” (Tubig at Langis) to “Kinadenang Pinto” (Kadenang Ginto), Goin’ Bulilit always nailed it with their hilarious twists on our favorite Pinoy teleseryes. Even the parodied titles were comedy gold!
Move over TV Patrol and 24 Oras, GB Patrol was the ultimate source for kids to stay updated on the latest buzz. Can you name another news program that would fearlessly discuss the mistreatment of two tortured cockroaches? How about an audition for the role of Darna, where auditionees were asked to literally jump out of the window? Only GB Patrol had the guts to do that on TV!
Probably the show’s most iconic segment, Sinetch Itey was first led by the trio of then-child stars Nash Aguas as Hershey, Basty Alcanses as Chocnut, and Aaron Junatas as Goya. They were known for their wit, glitzy outfits, and endless showbiz blind items that kept every kid at the edge of their seat.
Over the years, the Sinetch Itey panel changed and featured other Goin’ Bulilit stars like Clarence Delgado, Bugoy Cariño, and Izzy Canillo, but we’ll forever remember its iconic catchphrase. All together now: “Funny, funny, funny! Very, very, very!”
Korina K. Kanchez (played by Sharlene San Pedro) was the Korina Sanchez for every Pinoy kid growing up. Rated KKK was a parody of the TV magazine show Rated K, featuring the campiest interviews, such as Kanchez’s one-on-one with former Jesus Christ apostle Judas.
As the title says, Ang Corny was all about—you guessed it—corny but witty punchlines. Think of dad jokes with a sprinkle of satire. The best part? This segment had a catchy tune and easy-to-do dance number!
We can’t talk about Goin’ Bulilit without its hilarious predictions. This segment had anchors, fearless forecasts, and the ever-iconic grim reaper that would belt “Ngayooonnnggg [insert year].”
Halloween pranks can be hilarious, especially if kids are at the receiving end of the shenanigans, just like in Goin’ Bulilit‘s Halloween specials. While the stories they delivered gave us the spooks, the real highlight was the pranks pulled on the kids. Is it bad if we were so entertained seeing them scared and screaming?
When the Goin’ Bulilit kids weren’t busy cracking jokes or doing skits wrapped as social commentaries, it was a blast watching them unleash their competitive side in Ready, Set, Goin! The segment was usually near the show’s end, with cast members divided into two teams to play a game. Rewatching the segments today takes us back to the good old times of playing nonstop with our friends outside.
