True crime fans, there’s a new podcast for you to add to your rotation list, because true crime queen Stephanie Soo is releasing a podcast series in collaboration with streaming giant Netflix. Here’s everything we know so far.

Who is Stephanie Soo?

In case you didn’t know, South Korean-American content creator and storyteller Stephanie Soo first rose to fame on YouTube, where she blended mukbangs with intricate retellings of dark criminal cases and internet scandals.

In 2020, she launched the massive hit podcast Rotten Mango, where she explores international true crime cases with a focus on victim advocacy and psychological depth. Since then, Soo has built a loyal following by navigating the macabre with a unique balance of sincere empathy and dark humor. Her ability to humanize victims while dissecting the psychology of killers has made her a standout voice in the genre.

Beyond the serious nature of her true crime podcast, Soo is also known for her lighter, more chaotic content. Her other projects include the comedy podcast Moral of the Story, where she shares wild internet scandals and global dramas with her husband.

Millions of listeners all over the world tune in for her storytelling style and deep-dive research — and now, she’s bringing her skills to the world of streaming via Netflix.

The Rotten Files on Netflix

In the upcoming series The Rotten Files, the creator of Rotten Mango will investigate high-stakes cases, shedding light on perpetrators who believed their crimes were safely hidden from the public eye.

“Netflix is putting meaningful creative power in the hands of content creators, which is a really rare opportunity,” Soo said in a press release. “We’re ready to hit the ground running.”

When is Netflix’s The Rotten Files coming out?

With The Rotten Files, fans can expect the same meticulous attention to detail that made her podcasts famous, now backed by the visual scale of a Netflix production.
