Character: Miley Stewart/Hannah Montana

Did you know that Miley Cyrus originally auditioned for the title character’s best friend in 2006? She was initially denied the lead role because she was too young (she was 11 at the time) but stilled bagged it due to singing talent. The Hannah Montana role was Miley’s big break and she’s arguably one of the biggest starts to start their career with Disney.

Today, Miley rocks a similar hairstyle as her alter ego Hannah Montana. She’s got the same blonde hair and fringe, just now with cool tattoos all over her body. She’s still living the pop star life and released a new album, Plastic Hearts, in November 2020. She also recently released a new music video to her song “Angels Like You”, which was shot during the first outdoor COVID-compliant concert of its size.

Emily Osment

Emily Osment played the role of Miley Stewart’s best friend, Lilly Truscott. The two were inseparable in the show and she was the first person to know Miley’s biggest secret. Like Miley, Lily takes an alter ego Lola Luftnagle whenever she had to accompany Hannah Montana in different concerts and events. After Hannah Montana, Emily Osment started a singing career and has appeared in different shows like Young & Hungry in 2014 and Almost Family in 2019, where she starred with Pitch Perfect’s Brittany Snow and Arrow’s Megalyn Echikunwoke. Emily is now 29 years old.

Jason Earles

Though he was supposed to be 15-16 in the first season of the show, Jason Earles, who played the role of Miley’s older brother Jackson Stewart, was actually already 31 when it was released. (Jason, what kind of water do you drink?) After his successful role in Hannah Montana, Jason appeared in other Disney movies and worked as a TV Director. Now at 43 years old, Jason is happily married and is still involved with Disney, where he worked as an acting coach in the High School Musical: The Musical: The Series in 2019.

Billy Ray Cyrus

Character: Robby Ray Cyrus

Billy Ray Cyrus is both Miley’s on-screen and IRL dad in Hannah Montana. His character in the show is actually loosely based on real-life: he was a very famous country singer who had to quit his career after the death of his wife. (Miley’s real-life mom is very much alive, JFYI.) Now at 59 years old, Billy Ray lives in Nashville, Tennessee with his wife, Tish.

Mitchel Musso

Character: Oliver Oken

Known for his iconic side-swept hair and nickname “Locker Doctor” in school, Oliver Oken is one of Miley’s best friends in the show. Just like her girlfriend Lily, he also has an alter ego “Mike Stanley III” whenever he goes to Hannah Montana’s show. The bubbly and loud character is played by Mitchel Musso, who also appeared in other Disney shows Jeremy Johnson in Phineas & Ferb and King Brady in Pair of Kings. He’s now 29 years old, and has a singing and voice acting career. In 2020, he worked in Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Candice Against the Universe, lending his voice to play Jeremy Jordan.

Moises Arias

Character: Rico Suave

Oh who would forget Rico Suave and his evil laugh? He’s the owner of Rico’s Surf Shack, which appeared in beach scenes in the show. He’s got a love-hate relationship with Jackson and is in the same grade in school with Miley and friends, even though he’s younger. He’s a genius! The mischievous Rico Suave is played by Moises Arias, who is now 26 years old. After Hannah Montana, Moises continued acting and appeared in shows and movies, like in the 2019 movie Five Feet Apart, where he co-starred with fellow Disney star, Cole Sprouse. He also currently works as a photographer and creative director.

Cody Linley

Character: Jake Ryan

Looking like an angel with his blonde hair and sweet smile, there’s no doubt why all the girls in their school had a crush on him. You probably did too! But there’s one girl this famous actor can’t have – Miley Stewart. She wasn’t interested in him at all! Behind the boy who pursued Miley in the show is Cody Linley, who is now 31 years old. He still works as an actor, musician, and acting coach. He’s the father of two cute dogs too!

Selena Gomez

Character: Mikayla Skeech

Having Disney star crossovers felt like a treat back then. One of which was when Selena Gomez appeared in two episodes, where she played Mikayla Skeech. She was Hannah Montana’s rival but was friends with Miley Stewart. Known for her role in Wizards of Waverly Place, Selena Gomez is another star who made it big after her Disney shows. She’s become an awarded actress and singer and released a collaboration with Blackpink in late 2020. Selena also established her own cosmetic company, Rare Beauty.
