Much like Google, we can now refer to YouTube when we want a more in-depth guide on basically anything. Adulting can be really scary but these YouTube channels would help you tread through the world of being an adult through essential life skills:
55-year-old Rob Kennedy gained worldwide popularity when a Reddit post about his YouTube channel went viral for his “dadvice” videos. He makes how-to videos on life skills that people would traditionally learn from their dads. In an interview, he shared that he grew up without a father figure and that he started the channel in hopes that he’d help people around the world who are growing up without a dad. He started with how-to videos that range from unclogging a sink to jump-starting a car. Now, he also shares advice about life, since many of his subscribers have started sharing their experiences in the comments section. Rob Kennedy now has over 2 million subscribers kids on the internet!
Lyqa is the tutor you never thought you needed. Lyqa Maravilla is a local YouTuber known for her free educational content. After claiming the top spot in the 2013 Civil Service Exam, she decided to share videos that would help people pass aptitude exams like the Licensure Exam for Teachers, Civil Service Exam, and college entrance tests like the UPCAT. Over the years, she’s built a community of learners, calling them “Team Lyqa”.

At some point in our lives, we’re going to have to learn how to cook, even if it’s as simple as frying an egg. You Suck At Cooking is a channel that hits too close to home. They use deadpan humor in their videos and oftentimes, you’ll get roasted because what they’re saying is just too close to home. Expect no glamorous food shots. In their own words, they’ll give you: no bullshit, just cooking.
Perhaps one of the most nerve-wracking things you’ll ever do in your lifetime is trying to land a job. They make various videos on career and job-search advice for the modern professional. Some topics include writing a resume, preparing for a job interview, and job hunting tips.
Because schools don’t teach us essential life skills. How To Adult basically lives up to its name: they’re dedicated to making content about everything you need to know as an adult. Their videos literally cover almost everything you need to know, from doing your laundry, taking care of yourself when you’re sick, and everything in between. You can also find playlists on relationships and social skills, health, home economics, finances, and more.
