BIR makes tax identification easier

The BIR has welcomed the launch of the digital taxpayer identification number (TIN) ID on the eGovPH app—your new honorary badge for the ~*adulting*~ club and proof of tax compliance. The Digital TIN ID was launched in 2023 to combat fixers and scammers selling TINs online. It’s the ultimate life hack for anyone tired of long lines and physical paperwork. Even better, it’s FREE!

How to view your Digital TIN ID?

As long as you have an active, registered eGov PH account, you can get your Digital TIN ID in a few minutes.

• Click the ‘Digital ID’ icon found at the bottom.
• The digital copy of your TIN ID will appear.

IMPORTANT: Your Digital TIN ID will only appear if your eGovPH details match your BIR records or you already have an existing TIN ID record in BIR’s Online Registration and Update System (ORUS).

But if you don’t have a TIN ID yet, here’s the easiest way to get one

For most individuals, including first-time job seekers, the BIR now allows online applications for a Digital TIN ID. According to Revenue Memorandum Circular No. 120-2023, it may be used as a valid ID for transactions with government agencies and institutions, local government units, employers, banks, and financial institutions. And yes, it’s FREE.

• Log in to your ORUS account.
• Click the ‘View your Digital TIN ID ’ button under the Get your Digital TIN ID menu.
• Upload your most recent 1 x 1 picture with a white background and no borders, front-facing, showing both ears, with neutral expression, and no teeth showing.
• Ensure all information is correct and up to date.
• Click ‘Generate Digital TIN ID’
