Throwback to the 90s: Here’s How to Create Your Version of the Viral AI Yearbook Photos

Oct 2, 2023   •   Kyzia Maramara

Have you ever wanted to redo your yearbook photo? There’s an AI tool that will help you do just that and add a little more flair to it. The EPIK-AI Photo Editor is a trending app that transforms your selfies into hall of fame worthy yearbook photos. You get to look like the most athletic student, the best dressed, the most intellectual — complete with 90s-inspired hairdos and outfits. EPIK-AI is from the same creators of the popular South Korea camera app, SNOW which popularized the Korean AI profile picture a few months ago. So how can you get your AI-generated yearbook photos?

How to create your own AI yearbook photo

It’s easy to create your imagined blast from the past photo, all you have to do is download the app and follow a few simple steps:

  1. Download the EPIK-AI Photo Editor on Google Play or the App Store.
  2. Open the app and select the AI Yearbook tab
  3. Upload anywhere between 8-12 selfies
  4. Select your gender
  5. Click “Create Yearbook Images” and let the app cook
  6. Select and edit the photo you want to process and choose whether you want to add filters, frames, or background.
  7. Click “Process”

Yes, the AI Yearbook is a paid service

Unfortunately, you can’t get your photos for free. You’ll be asked to choose from two package options: Standard (P199) where your photos will be ready in 24 hours, or Express (P299) where you can have them in 2 hours. You might even have to wait for a few minutes before you can choose either option since both tend to “sell out” fast.

But after choosing, you’ll finally have your AI Yearbook photo set ready for uploading on social media!

Filipino celebrities hop in on the trend

Megan Young and Kryz Uy are some of the local personalities who just had to try their version of the 90s AI Yearbook trend. For Megan, it was a cool app to see what her yearbook photo would’ve looked like if she knew how to take care of her curly hair back then. As for Kryz, she shared how much fun she had reminiscing while curating her cute photo set.

Even Dingdong Dantes had to join the trend but with his own twist. The 43-year-old actor pulled his actual yearbook photo from his archives and captioned the Instagram post with, “Ai, mali. #AI90sYearbookGoneWrong.”

NGL, Dingdong’s entry for this trend is better than any edit on a phone app. Now, how about we petition all the other local celebrities to drop their own *actual* 90s yearbook photos?
