8 Iconic ‘Eat Bulaga’ Moments That Never Fails to Make Us LOL

Jun 2, 2023   •   Kyzia Maramara

It came as a shock to thousands of Pinoys when Eat Bulaga hosts Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto and Joey de Leon (TVJ) announced on May 31 that they will be leaving the longest-running noontime show and parting ways with TAPE Inc., their production company. In a statement posted on June 1, TAPE Inc., expressed regret about these developments, but also excitement to introduce new faces to the show. Meanwhile, Pinoys on social media get emotional over TVJ leaving. After all, they’ve helmed the show since it first aired in 1979. And so to get your mind off this sad news, here are funny Eat Bulaga moments that will make your day better.

The birth of Aldub

Who can forget how the noontime show stumbled on the iconic pairing of Yaya Dub (Maine Mendoza) and Alden Richards? All it took was a split second of Mendoza’s shy smile and Allan K’s teasing and the rest is history. AlDub had the whole nation on a chokehold, smashing global social media records and local TV ratings. At the loveteam’s peak, they even had a “Tamang Panahon” sold-out event held at the Philippine Arena.

Ryzza Mae Dizon’s birthday party

@ebdabarkads Yung after manalo sa Little Miss Philippines, birthday naman ang sinelebrate! 🎉 #ryzzamaedizon #dabarkads #eatbulaga ♬ original sound – Eat Bulaga!

This might not be a hilarious moment but it sure is an iconic one. Back in 2012, they celebrated Ryzza Mae Dizon’s 7th birthday during the show which caused the young girl to get emotional on live national TV. “Ngayon lang po ako nakakita ng ganito,” said the teary-eyed Dizon surrounded by EB hosts holding plates of spaghetti, pansit, and fried chicken.

The whole scene was touching, truly a sight to behold, and a testament to how each of the EB hosts treats each other like family.

Jose Manalo falls into the dirty river

One of the funniest moments during EB‘s “Juan for All, All for Juan” segment involves Jose Manalo (as usual) and a dirty river. And we all know how it ends. Manalo tries to get through the river while standing on a makeshift raft but unfortunately gets tangled in the ropes and loses his balance. Although this happened more than half a decade ago, it still remains one of the funniest moments of the noontime show.

A Sugod Bahay winner thanks Willie Revillame

When you’re on national television, three hilarious hosts by your side and cameras pointed at you, you’d get flustered too! That’s what happened when this Sugod Bahay winner suddenly thanked “Willie” instead of Wally which opened the door for hilarious jokes. And here we get to watch Manalo pretend to be the “Willie” everyone mistakes him for.

This iconic house that welcomes guests with a toilet bowl

In a 2010 episode of “Juan for All, All for Juan,” Manalo and Wally Bayola visited the winner’s house and got surprised. When they opened the front door, a single toilet bowl greeted everyone. “‘Eto yung pinapangarap kong bahay. ‘Pag pasok mo, banyo agad,” jokes Manalo.

This winner with so much energy

We’ve got three words for you: Juanito Chamacho Junior. It has been more than a decade but this guy is still the most energetic and eclectic Sugod Bahay winner that had the whole country laughing from his antics. He was so excited, the barangay tanod thought he was a random onlooker who wanted to hug the hosts. Juanito could even ride with the host’s jokes, even pretending that he’s in a shootout with them!

The accidental raid

Sugod Bahay episodes are like the lottery, you never know what you’ll find. It certainly also keeps the hosts on their toes. Another iconic one is when Manalo and Bayola interrupted a group of tongits players when they barged in on the wrong room. The hosts hilariously made the whole thing look like a raid and it helped that the players all had cloths over their head.

All the times JoWaPao introduces the prizes

“Rice cooker with 10 Instagram followers!” “Turbo broiler with vitamins and minerals!” “Washing machine with no therapeutic claims!” Manalo, Bayola, and Paolo Ballesteros’ comedy shone bright every time they introduced all the prizes for Sugod Bahay winners. You never know what to expect what funny thing the appliances are coupled with.
