Jak Roberto On Separating Celebrities' Public and Personal Lives

Jak Roberto said it himself: he’s not seloso. Committing to his internet-given identity as everyone’s Anti-Silos Professor, the actor opens up about the ongoing shipping wars pitting him against fellow actor David Licauco, his girlfriend Barbie Forteza’s love team. In a recent interview on Fast Talk With Boy Abunda, Jak Roberto shares what he really feels about Barbie and David being paired up.

So is he jealous?

When asked if he feels jealous about his girlfriend being paired up with someone else, he confidently said no. Even when Barbie is involved in kissing scenes with other actors! “Hindi Tito eh, kaya siguro naging professor ako ng anti-selos class,” he jokingly added.

The internet dubbed Jak as the “unbothered boyfriend” and “anti-selos professor” after the massive success of the on-screen pairing of his girlfriend Barbie Forteza and her love team David Licauco. The two showed much chemistry as a pair in their collaborations in Maria Clara at Ibarra and the currently airing Maging Sino Ka Man.

Netizens couldn’t believe how chill he was about Barbie and David starring in projects together and being shipped with one another, with memes popping up one after the other. Jak even jumped on the bandwagon, holding anti-silos classes with his The Missing Husband co-stars and even visiting Jose Rizal University for a quick lecture.

Instead of jealousy, Jak feels sad about fans getting into shipping wars over the best pair with Barbie. “Nakakalungkot lang po kasi may mga comments na parang pine-personal na. Minsan nakakapagsabi na ng hindi magandang salita,” he said.

Instead of pitting people against each other, Jak hopes fans could recognize the separation between work life and personal life. “Nalulungkot lang ako sa iba na sana maintindihan nila ‘yung trabaho tsaka sa personal na buhay,” the actor added.

Barbie and Jak

Being together for over six years, the couple already know how to separate work and personal lives.

When asked if he and Barbie have an agreement to protect their relationship when it comes to their acting projects, Jak seems to practice what he preaches. “Wala po talaga kaming pakialaman sa trabaho po. Kumbaga parehas po kaming aktor, pero pagdating sa trabaho, trabaho po. Pagdating sa love life, love life.”
