Here’s Why Fans Are Creating Memes of Jollibee as TXT’s Newest Member

Earlier this week, Korean 5-piece act Tomorrow x Together (or TXT) arrived in Manila to the surprise of their fans. This October 27 and 28, Yeonjun, Soobin, Beomgyu, Taehyun, and HueningKai are set to light up the Mall of Asia Arena with their fans, also nicknamed MOA (which stands for Moments of Alwaysness, or could be translated into ‘gather’ when read in Korean). But even before the concert days, the group has been interacting with their fans online through live streams and comments. One such interaction due to a mistranslation has gone so viral with the involvement of an alleged ~new~ member: the Philippines’ very own Jollibee.
What was lost in translation?
On the fan community platform Weverse, a Filipino MOA wanted to suggest that TXT should try eating at Jollibee. Unfortunately, due to the limitations of machine translators, their message was translated into “졸리비 해보세요!!” which could be translated into “try to do Jollibee” like it’s a challenge. Oof. TXT member Yeonjun responded to the post in confusion: “Is that a rapper? What should I do?”

This, of course, created a wave of hilarity and hysteria among Filipino MOAs, prompting them to create many memes involving TXT and Jollibee.
