When you think of Jollibee, one of the first things that come to mind is the joy of childhood, celebrations, and cravings fulfilled through their langhap sarap meals. The brand then added more saya into our lives when they began releasing short films in 2017, which has made the month of love better. Now on its fifth year, the release of Kwentong Jollibee films around Valentine’s has become something we look forward to every year. If you’re in the mood for some feels, here are some of the most iconic Kwentong Jollibee Valentine releases that made us believe in love again:
We’re starting with one of the newly-released Kwentong Jollibee films “First Date”. This year’s films highlight the importance of finding strength in love, just like this story where she found a different kind of love during the months of lockdown. This one’s for everyone who has recently found love — not necessarily with a partner. This pandemic is giving us so much time to ourselves, so we better learn to treat ourselves well! And besides, those who learn to love themselves are able to give love even more generously. Watch the film now to get some pointers on how to practice self-love today!
What would you do if your partner asks you for space and eventually ends up leaving you… even though you know you’ve been giving your all? “Space” taught us that you don’t have to be the best – you just have to be with the right person. And there’s no such thing as “too much love” when you’re with someone who’d gladly receive it. For the right person — the one who chooses you — you’ll always be more than enough. Why force your love on someone who won’t appreciate it, di ba? (Also, you should definitely add fries to your Yumburger.)
Relationships aren’t always rainbows and butterflies, no matter how perfect it seems on social media. Behind every relationship is a lot of hard work, patience, and sacrifice — things you don’t normally share on the interwebs. There are days where loving may become difficult, but as long as you’re willing to compromise and make it work, the love you’ll receive will be tenfold. Once you get over the bad days then it’s more #CoupleGoals!
In “Hero”, another addition to this year’s latest short films, we see that even the strongest people have their bad days too. The past year has brought us changes we didn’t expect or weren’t prepared for. No matter how strong you think you are, you don’t need to deal with life’s curveballs alone. Heroes need other heroes too. Fun fact: the leader actress for this film is award-winning actress Angel Aquino’s daughter, Iana Bernardez!
(If you haven’t watched it yet, do it now — but get your tissues ready, ’cause it’s gonna be an emotional ride.)
Sometimes, things just don’t go according to plan, no matter how much you prepare or look forward to it. Once you learn that a person shouldn’t be your world and should just be a part of it, maybe you’ll be able to pick yourself up and be ready to fall in love again. Getting hurt is okay, and can even be the start of something great.
“LDR” is another new Kwentong Jollibee short released this year, which shows the struggles of many couples under lockdown. Due to the pandemic, strict health and safety protocols have forced many lovebirds to go on a biglaang LDR, and let’s face it: long-distance relationships aren’t for the weak. But just because things get difficult, it doesn’t mean you should give up. In this new normal, we found different ways to adjust to life, and our relationships have followed suit. After all, true love is greater than any distance.
Fun fact: this is 2020 MMFF Best Director Antoine Jadaone’s first Kwentong Jollibee short and it didn’t disappoint! Watch it now and tell us if Parokya ni Edgar’s “Your Song” gave you the feels too!
Is love at first sight real? If you’ve ever felt that instant connection after seeing someone for the first time, then maybe you had a taste of it. However, just because you felt that magic doesn’t mean that the other person has to feel the same way. There are people who get by just lovingly watching on from the sidelines. Here’s to all our friends who have stuck with us through thick and thin, those who only wish for the best for us, even if it means not ending up together. Cause that kind of unconditional love may be one of the greatest forms of love.
This one just takes the pinakamasakit trophy and it’s probably the most memorable Kwentong Jollibee story yet. How do you move on from a person who was taken away from you in the most unexpected way? How do you handle both grief AND heartbreak? You might’ve lost someone dear, but it doesn’t mean you should give up on love. Even though it isn’t easy, always choose to love again.
