RuPaul’s Drag Race: UK vs. The World (UKvsTW) Season 2 has just crowned its newest Queen of The Mothertucking World, and even though things didn’t end up the way we hoped for our very own Marina Summers, she has catapulted the Philippine drag scene into new heights of global recognition. Here are some of her best moments on the show we still can’t get enough of:
Spoiler alert!
After Marina announced that she was joining UKvsTW Season 2, all eyes were on her, especially since she had a fabulous Drag Race Philippines Season 1 stint prior. And gurl, Marina came prepared and ready to slay! Her ‘Amafilipina’ number in the premiere episode still lives in our heads rent-free. That performance epitomizes Philippine drag — fierce, wildly entertaining, and top-notch.
RuVeal, or two-in-one-themed runways, remains a staple in the Drag Race franchise, and our Filipina winnah brought her A-game, guns blazing. She donned a breathtaking volcano-inspired ensemble by Job Dacon, which seamlessly transformed into a gown that captured the fiery spirit of Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray’s iconic lava gown. Serving two looks is one heck of a challenge, but Marina knocked it out of the park.
Who would’ve thought we’d see Dugong, the character portrayed by seasoned actress Malou de Guzman in the Pinoy teleserye Marina, strutting on the runway of RPDR? Marina brought the iconic character to life and called it the most fun she has had on the show. As if that wasn’t iconic already, Malou gave Marina her stamp of approval:
“Thank you for remembering me! Blaze the trail! Go, go scorchingly hot, Marina Summers!” said the actress.
Marina may be a well-rounded diva, but she’s truly in her element when performing on stage. Case in point: her incredible performance in the Rusical episode, where she got her second win. The 27-year-old star knows how to mesmerize the entire room, radiating unmatched charisma and talent.
To be praised by the Queen of Drag herself, RuPaul, is a testament to Marina’s evolution from a queer kid with big dreams to a successful international glamazon.
“Marina Summers, you were born to be on stage. You were born to do drag. You have represented not only the Philippines but drag in such a way that it makes us all so proud for you,” RuPaul said, which made Marina emotional.
If that doesn’t fill you with pride and joy for Marina, are you even human?
Anyone tuned into the show has likely noticed Marina’s runway walk always has that signature side glance with a smize. She revealed it was inspired by none other than Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, who graciously acknowledged and thanked her for the homage. The best part? RuPaul did it too!

Talk about queens supporting one another! BRB. We’ll practice The Marina glance.
Marina’s fellow queens on the show weren’t lying when they called her a lip-sync assassin. Drop any track and watch her devour the stage until the last beat. Let’s be honest; she can lip-sync every episode, and we’ll be cheering like it’s the first time we’ve ever seen her perform!
Marina didn’t accomplish everything she has right now overnight. It took her years of hard work, persistence, and much talent to become the Marina Summers we know today. That makes her so darn easy to cheer for, as she always represents the LGBTQIA+ community with love, commitment, and pride. She might not have snagged the crown this time, but Marina’s run on the show taught us to be unapologetically ourselves and never give up on our dreams.
Keep raising the Pinoy flag, Marina!
