This year’s pool of Miss Universe Philippines 2021 bets includes so many gorgeous women from all over the country we don’t know who our favorite is. Just yesterday, the Miss Universe Philippines organization announced its Top 75 candidates. Out of 100 hopefuls, these women are the ones left to vie for the title. Who is going to be the successor of our queen, Rabiya Mateo? Here are just 8 of our top bets to represent our country for the upcoming Miss Universe.
Rousanne Marie Bernos — or Ayn Bernos as many know her — went from entrepreneur and Tiktok star to probably one of the strongest candidates of this season. She has dreamt of joining the pageant since she was young but standing at 5’3, it seemed impossible. That is until this year, Miss Universe Philippines 2021 removed their height qualifications. Bernos dropped everything and applied on the spot. And wouldn’t you know it, she’s now part of the Top 75 candidates. She was even part of the Top 15 for the fan-voted headshot challenge and the video introduction challenge.
All eyes are on Maureen Wroblewitz as she walks her way to winning the competition. The 23-year-old is known for being Asia’s Next Top Model Season 5 victor and the first Filipina to win the competition too. You could say this girl has got the looks down pat thanks to her modeling skills. Coupled with her laidback introduction video, (which was one of the top voted ones, BTW) it looks like Maureen is going to be a cool and collected queen even on stage.
Kisses Delavin is more than just an actress. She’s got beauty and brains and she just might win us the crown. Kisses was a contestant who placed second in the reality show Pinoy Big Brother: Lucky 7. From there, she went on to be a Star Music recording artist and filmed movies like Fantastica and Walwal. It’s a pleasant surprise to see Kisses transform into a fierce and confident queen for the pageant. So far, this beautiful 22-year-old has topped the video intro and headshot challenge for Miss Universe PH. Is this a sign that she might be crowned next?
Christelle Abello is trying her luck once again after previously finishing 16th for the Miss Universe Philippines 2020 competition. After that, this Fil-Am Aklanon model said that she wanted to enter the world of showbiz and maybe star in a movie alongside Anne Curtis. But if she wins the crown for Miss Universe PH, she might want to put her showbiz dreams on hold. Watch out for this queen, she’s going to slay!
Leren Mae Bautista isn’t new to pageantry and this is exactly why she deserves a shot at the crown. This beauty queen has been crowned in many competitions like the Mutya ng Pilipinas Asia Pacific International 2019 and the Binibining Pilipinas Globe 2019. She also finished as 2nd Runner-Up at the Miss Globe 2019 pageant. Leren has got the experience and the expertise and so far, she is a strong contender for this year’s competition too. She placed 7th for the headshot challenge and 6th for her video intro.
Cebuana Steffi Aberasturi didn’t come to play, if her official Miss Universe Philippines 2021 bikini photo is anything to go by. Aside from being a stunning 5’7 model, Steffi is also an entrepreneur who supports fellow local entrepreneurs, an endorser, and a scuba diver in her spare time. The 26-year-old is also not new to pageantry. She has won Binibining Cebu 2018, Ms. Sinulog 2011, and Ms. IPI 2012 to name a few.
Katrina Dimaranan is oozing with confidence and charisma, two characteristics that easily secured her a spot in the Top 10 for video intro and headshot challenge. This Taguig representative has competed in other pageants before. She was crowned Binibining Pilipinas Tourism 2012 and even represented the USA at the Miss Supranational 2018 where she won 1st Runner Up. And did you know Katrina was an Islander for Season 1 of Love Island USA?
Corrine Abalos made it to the Top 75 and her family couldn’t be more proud. The beauty queen is the daughter of the current Mandaluyong Mayor Menchie Abalos and current MMDA Chairman Benhur Abalos. They, including her older sister, Mandaluyong Councilor Charisse Abalos-Vargas, shared posts on Facebook congratulating Corrine for her achievement. This beauty is another strong contender for the crown. She secured her slot at the Top 15 for both video intro and headshot challenge.
From the Top 75, the candidates will be trimmed down to 50 and then to 30 women. These 30 will then be part of the in-person live September 25 coronation night. Catch tickets to the live-streamed event here.
