ICYMI: All the References President Nadine Lustre Made in Her Witty Endorsement Video for VP Leni

Apr 26, 2022   •   Kyzia Maramara

One of the latest celebrities to officially do a “president reveal” is none other than the public’s president herself, Madam Nadine Lustre. The 28-year-old actress released a video last Monday dripping with witticisms and references to almost everything she went through in her showbiz career. She spouts iconic one-liners she made both on- and off-screen and even embraces random memes netizens made of her. Here are all the references President Nadine Lustre made in her already iconic presidential address.

Lahat naman tayo gusto ng tahimik na buhay ‘di ba? Tataya ako sa best person who can give us that.

Si Leni Robredo. 💖❤️💚💜💙🤍#PresNadine4PresLeni pic.twitter.com/5628CxKqw6

While we’ve heard her talk about the people bestowing her the title before, this is one of the few times President Nadine publicly acknowledged her presidency. It makes for a hilarious moment knowing that the actress is riding on her fans’ inside joke.

Issues that hounded her in the past

Nadine is no stranger to fake news and being bashed for the most random things. People from the media and netizens have criticized her for everything — from how her relationship with James ended to all those pregnancy rumors that crop up every year.

In her video, Nadine mentioned that like her, VP Leni has been weathering the nasty news cycle. “But she still served tirelessly, faithfully, wholeheartedly. Dahil alam niyang deserve nating mga Pilipino,” says Nadine while holding a mouthwatering piece of lechong manok. Speaking of…

That sarsa meme

Remember when Nadine was photographed buying a bottle of sarsa in Siargao? Yeah, that was another iconic moment. President Nadine embraced the plethora of memes that spawned from that one photo and now she’s using it to endorse her chosen candidate. May lechong manok na ba lahat?

Her feisty reply to bashers in 2016

after almost 8 years stanning nadine, i finally heard her say this iconic line. 🤣😭#PresNadine4PresLeni pic.twitter.com/1aOHHgP3bz

— #LeniKiko2022 (@yihyunreligion) April 25, 2022

“I don’t need no saving. I’m no damsel in distress,” says Nadine in the presidential endorsement video. Even in 2016, Nadine didn’t back down from defending herself against bashers. That particular line was posted on Twitter from her now-deleted account @hellobangsie after harsh criticisms she got from her movie with James Reid, Till I Met You. Here’s the complete quote: “Bye doubters! I’ve had enough. Not your damsel in distress. I don’t need saving.” Oooofff. Burn.

Her OTWOL line

“Kapag mahal ka, babalikan ka,” says President Nadine during her presidential address. Although loyal JaDine fans would want that line to summarize the actress’ past relationship with James, it’s actually a line from their 2015 TV series On the Wings of Love. Close enough. Watch the scene here if you feel like torturing yourself:

TBH, Nadine referencing this VP Leni moment kind of feels like they’re both starring in a shampoo commercial. Netizens are convinced Nadine’s Cream Silk endorsements are the inspiration for this shot.

“C’mon guys, it’s 2017!”

And for the grand finale, of course, it will be a reference to her most iconic meme yet. Born in 2017, this meme will never grow old. And now we have a 2022 version! That’s a testament to how awesome President Nadine is — she effortlessly made a meme so timeless, it will still be around long after COVID has passed, the 17th president is elected, and our apo sa tuhods are born.

Netizens are over the moon

Nadine Lustre rly said “if y’all gonna make me viral with the most random things then let me collect all references and endorse Leni Robredo while we’re at it” 💅#PresNadine4PresLeni pic.twitter.com/tTSYluq9vA

— Nicol 🌸 | #LeniKiko2022 🎀 (@nikowl) April 25, 2022

#PresNadine4PresLeni trended immediately after the video dropped online. Netizens are obviously delighted about the way Nadine, a millennial icon, made the video in a way “that catered to the edgy Gen Z market.” She’s doing her utmost here and it shows.

“Don’t you just love how she embraces everything about herself and turns it into a pop culture moment?” tweeted one netizen.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! PANALO! Don’t you just love how she embraces everything about herself and turns it into a pop culture moment? President. Mang Tomas. Her feisty attitude. Nadine Lustre is fucking awesome. #PresNadine4PresLeni 🌸🌸🌸 https://t.co/yztX0mvog3

Nadine Lustre deserves a “Phenomenal” title. It’s not just about movies /this but honestly she has done so much and deserves her flowers 🌷❤️‍🔥🤷‍♀️ https://t.co/ed3olaAkw6

It’s safe to say the netizens are relieved to have chosen her as their president.
