The enhanced community quarantine has just been extended, which means we’ve got more time to try new hobbies, binge watch shows, and of course, try to contain the virus as we stay indoors. Check out these new releases to enjoy as you pass time at home.
Director and producer Ryan Murphy is back with a new star-studded show. Travel back to the 1940s with this group of aspiring filmmakers and actors who try to make it big in Hollywood. Dressed in fedoras and suspenders, catch Darren Criss, David Corenswet, Dylan McDermott, and Jake Picking work their way up to success after the Second World War. Available on Netflix on May 1.
You wouldn’t want to miss this new coming-of-age Netflix film. Straight-A student Ellie Chu agreed to write a love letter for a jock in the hopes of making his crush fall in love. However, in the process of doing it, Ellie ends up being friends with the jock and falls in love with the same girl. Available on Netflix on May 1.
One of the most iconic crime films, The Godfather, is now on Netflix. And the best part is, all three films: The Godfather (1972), The Godfather Part II (1974), and The Godfather Part III (1990) will be easily accessible in the platform. Follow the Italian-American mafia, the Corleone family, as they take a major part in organized crimes in America. Available on Netflix on May 1.
The Eddy is the story of Elliot Udo, who is a successful jazz pianist from New York. He moves to Paris and owns a jazz club, but it’s now failing. Get a glimpse of what it’s like to run a jazz bar in the heart of Paris – triumphs and struggles included. Available on Netflix on May 8.
Looking for a new K-drama to watch? Strangers From Hell is a webtoon-turned-drama mystery thriller that features the life of an aspiring novelist. He moves to a cheap apartment, a Gosiwon, after accepting an internship offer. The apartment and even its residents are strange; Yoon Jong-Woo saves up to leave after six months. But right before he moves out, strange things happen and he starts to fear his neighbors. Available on Netflix on May 15.
The timeless classic, Psycho, is a psychological thriller that follows the life of a motel owner, Norman Bates. Set in the 1960s, real estate secretary Marion steals from her employer and flees. Marion takes a pit stop at Bates Motel on a rainy night where she meets Norman. Available on Netflix on May 22.
Space Force is a comedy series starred by Steve Carell. He plays the role of a four-star general who is given the task to team up with a group of scientists and forms a sixth branch of the U.S. Armed Forces – the United States Space Force. P.S. This show is loosely inspired by Donald Trump’s plan of sending the military to space. Available on Netflix on May 29.
Parasite Director Bong Joon-ho’s 2013 film Snowpiercer is getting its own TV series. Seven years after the world becomes entirely frozen, the remaining humans on Earth inhabit a gigantic train that perpetually travels around the globe. In this adaptation of the film, social injustice, class welfare, and politics of survival are played out. Available on Netflix on May 31.
