Our Favorite K-Drama Oppas Had Jeje Days Too and We’re All For It

Jul 6, 2020   •   Ina Louise Manto

We often see our favorite K-drama actors groomed to make us fall even harder. They’re oftentimes dressed in the most expensive designer pieces, hair styled to perfection and skin glowing brighter than the sun. But these photos will make you think twice. The jejemon phenomenon may not have been an actual thing in South Korea but it’s comforting to know that even these hit actors were not immune to the jeje days and have photos they’d rather stay hidden as well:

Lee Jong Suk

Lee Jong Suk began his career as a model in 2005, being the youngest model ever to walk at Seoul Fashion Week. He didn’t start acting until 2012 when he landed a role in School 2013 and the rest is history. Remember the days when wearing thick eyeliner and listening to emo music looked so cool? He probably reminds you of that classmate you always found so cool, the one who was always wearing earphones. He may be serving at the military now, but on the days you miss him, go back to this photo and have a good laugh.

Ji Chang Wook

That classic selfie photo with an iPhone to let everyone know you already have the coolest phone when everyone’s still stuck with physical QWERTY keypads. Do you remember standing in front of a mirror to take selfies with the iPhone’s rear camera because it didn’t have a front cam yet? Ji Chang Wook rose to fame when he appeared in the daily drama series Smile Again in 2010. Some of his most iconic works include lead roles in Healer (2014), K2 (2016), and My Suspicious Partner in 2017.

Park Seo Joon

Park Seo Joon’s short AF bangs in Itaewon Class is cancelled out by this hairstyle that covers half of his face! Di ka ba naiinitan dyan? He began his career by appearing in the music video of Bang Yong Guk‘s single in 2011. Since then, he’s starred in many dramas we can’t get over with, including She Was Pretty (2015), Fight for My Way (2017), and What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim (2018).

Hyun Bin

O Captain! My Captain! Hyun Bin… just… why…. :(( He actually looks much older here, worthy of being called a manong. It’s nice to see that he finally got past the spikey hair and bumblebee shades combo! The Crash Landing on You star kickstarted his career by starring at OG drama My Name is Kim Sam Soon in 2005. Among his other successful dramas are The Memories of the Alhambra and The Negotiation, both from 2018.

Lee Joon Gi

We can all agree that’ how we took selfies with our digicams back in the early 2000s. That makati-ang-ulo-ko-pero-walang-kuto pose. Would you believe that this is Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo star Lee Joon Gi? The scary 3rd Prince who easily loses his temper? The actor first gained popularity in his role in the 2005 movie The King and the Clown. He also appeared in the dramas Scholar Who Walks The Night (2015) and Lawless Lawyer (2018).

Kim Soo Hyun

No, it’s not a wig, it’s his actual hair. Mahangin ba sa labas, oppa? But fans of Dream High would he had this hairstyle in the drama! Also, that’s another angle that we did for selfies before, with the occasional duck face (thank God it’s finally over). He debuted as an actor in the 2007 sitcom Kimchi Cheese Smile and become a household name after appearing in Dream High (2011). After a 3-year acting hiatus, Kim Soo Hyun is back on television with a real role in the current hit drama It’s Okay Not To Be Okay. Did you know he had a cameo in CLOY?

Lee Dong Wook

Oh no, the days where editing text on your photos was still considered cool. Especially with that font, exclusive on PiZap or paint. At least he just put his email and not something as funny as “LeEd0n6_is_c00L_25”. Lee Dong Wook is known for his roles in the hit dramas Goblin (2016), Strangers in Hell (2019), and The Guardian (2016).

Park Bo Gum

When you and your barkada spent extra to have individual photos taken at your local Picture City or Great Image. (If your barkada didn’t do that before, why?!) Anyway, Park Bo Gum must be a vampire because he still looks as young now! Park Bo Gum captured our hearts in dramas like Reply 1988 (2015), Encounter (2018), and Love in the Moonlight (2016). We’ll have to say goodbye to him for a while though, as he’s enlisting on August 31.
