Nearly a week after Typhoon Ulysses sent the country into devastation, relief operations and donation drives are still going strong to respond to victims still in desperate need of help. At the helm of these relief operations are the usual suspects like Philippine Red Cross, GMA Kapuso Foundation, and ABS-CBN Foundation, but joining the efforts as well are local celebrities and personalities, even fans who organized themselves and reached out to trusted partners on the ground. Check out the Pinoy celebrities and fandoms who stepped up and launched donation drives to help the victims of the recent typhoons.
The couple garnered a lot of attention from netizens after they brought out their surfboards to answer calls for help during the floods in Marikina last week. Later on, they called for donations to fund the “immediate distribution of relief goods and aid” for the victims of Typhoons Ulysses and Rolly. Their fundraiser can be found at gogetfunding.com, but they are also accepting donations in kind. Simply email them at echoandkim@gmail.com.
Just a couple of weeks after being crowned, Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Rabiya Mateo is already fulfilling her duty as a queen. On November 14, her birthday, the queen started a donation drive and urged her followers on Instagram to donate whatever they can.
Like Rabiya Mateo, her fellow queens from this year’s Miss Universe Philippines 2020 candidates are doing their part. Cavite’s Billie Hakenson, Bohol’s Pauline Amelinckx, Cebu’s Apriel Smith, and others have auctioned off their personal items, with all proceeds going to victims of the typhoons. Quezon City’s Michelle Gumabao has even gone on-site to provide relief donations to both victims and frontliners of the typhoons.
Singer Donnalyn Bartolome also went on the ground to mobilize vehicles to be used for rescue efforts. She bought and delivered rubber boats to be used in rescuing those stranded in Marikina and Rizal and put out a call for volunteers on her Facebook page to man the boats.
In her Youtube channel, she also created a video that showed a montage of clips she took during her rescue operations in Marikina and Rizal, showing how streets are filled with floodwater and mud, trees have been cut down by the winds, roofs have been blown off, and people are stranded on whatever little surface they could find. Bartolome pledged all earnings that would be made through the video would be donated to the victims of the typhoons. (So don’t skip ads!)
Miss World 2013 Megan Young and cosplayer Alodia Gosiengfiao raised donations through their streams. Last Saturday night, Gosiengfiao was able to raise 76,489 stars (or USD 764.89 or nearly PHP 37,000), an amount which she matched upon donating to UNICEF. Meanwhile, Young organized a Charity Stream with the Wager Guild, with the stars received of all streamers being donated to victims of the typhoons.
Even young celebrity baby Scarlet Snow Belo did her share in sending help to those affected by the typhoons, particularly in Marikina. In her Instagram post, she shared that she “packed these goodies [her]self so it’s packed with [her] love.” Caring and cute.
PLEASE READ: let’s help together. Isabela, Cagayan and other badly hit areas in Luzon badly need food and supplies as people are starving and cold.

Local indie band Ben&Ben pitched in by launching their own fundraiser called Puhon Luzon! to send relief goods to those affected in the Cagayan region. Fans (a.k.a. Liwanags) quickly acted upon this initiative, with some opening artwork commissions for a cause and others directly donating.

SB19 will be holding an online concert on November 21, Saturday, and the group has announced that a portion of the earnings from the event will be donated to help the victims of the typhoons. And like their idols, the group’s fans A’TIN organized a donation drive as one of their anniversary projects. The project called Babangon Tayo, Padayon! aims to advocate for kindness, as SB19 has, and help the families affected by Typhoon Ulysses.
In times like these, a little help can put fellow A’TIN back on their feet after the calamity.
With this, we’re opening another donation drive and proceeds will go to those affected by #UlyssesPH.

It’s not just the fans of local groups that are working hard to help those in need. Filipino ARMYs, or the fans of Billboard Hot100 #1 artist BTS, have raised PHP 3.5 million and still counting! Different individuals, groups, and shops have organized the donation drives through simple fundraising, merch sales, or raffle draws, while a dedicated team keeps track and updates the public through a spreadsheet.
Likewise, Blinks, or the fans of global girl group BlackPink, have organized a fundraising drive called Blinks as One PH, with their beneficiaries being the families in Albay, Camarines Norte, Rizal, and Bulacan. Donations from other countries have also poured in, like the USD 507 (or about PHP 25,000) from Blinks in the US.

Other fandoms of K-Pop groups like Treasure, Seventeen, Super Junior, Eric Nam, and NCT, as well as local K-Pop organization Philippine KPOP Convention, have also launched their own donation efforts to provide relief goods to those devastated by the typhoons.
