REVIEW: The POCO F6 Is an Affordable Powerhouse for Mobile Gamers

If you’ve been on the hunt for a high-performing smartphone that doesn’t break the bank, the latest release from Xiaomi’s sub-brand POCO might be up your alley. The POCO F6 is a mid-range device with impressive specs and features that make it punch way above its weight (or price tag). We got our hands on one ahead of its launch event in Dubai. After putting it to the test, here’s our verdict.
Designed for gamers
The POCO F6 was designed with gamers in mind. Under the hood, the POCO F6 is powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 870 processor. Coupled with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, this device can handle heavy gaming and multitasking with ease.
We tested out some graphic-intensive games like Genshin Impact and Diablo Immortal, and the POCO F6 didn’t break a sweat. It didn’t even heat up! The POCO F6 managed to maintain a comfortable temperature throughout, thanks to its LiquidCool Technology 2.0.
The display is eye candy
We were impressed with the POCO F6’s display. The device boasts the brand’s first-ever CrystalRes display. It’s got a 6.67-inch Flow AMOLED DotDisplay, a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of up to 2400 nits. The display’s slim bezel design and 94.27% screen-to-body ratio create an immersive viewing environment, making activities like gaming, watching videos, and reading online a pleasure.
A versatile camera setup
For photography enthusiasts and aspiring content creators, the POCO F6’s camera setup has a 48MP main sensor, 8MP ultra-wide lens, and 5MP macro lens. The images we captured were crisp and detailed, even in low-light conditions.
The device also features a 20MP front camera for high-quality selfies, as well as OIS and EIS dual stabilization for better photos and smoother videos. It’s also got a Dual Video mode for recording from both front and rear cameras simultaneously.
Battery Life
One of the most impressive aspects of the POCO F6 is its battery life. With a massive 5160mAh battery and support for 33W fast charging, we were able to get through an entire day without worrying about running out of juice.
Design and Build
The POCO F6 definitely looks and feels like a premium device with smooth edges for a comfortable look and feel. Light and thin, it’s available in three colors — Black, Green, and Titanium Color — all of which have a luxurious matte finish.
