From songs about love, heartbreak, and celebration, Taylor Swift has given us the best tunes that have been a part of our playlists for years. Tbh, it’s not even embarrassing anymore to accept that you’re a Swiftie deep inside. We get it. She’s certainly been through a lot as an artist, and here are some accounts to make anyone stan her more:
Hey Ginny & Georgia, 2010 called and it wants its lazy, deeply sexist joke back. How about we stop degrading hard working women by defining this horse shit as FuNnY. Also, @netflix after Miss Americana this outfit doesn’t look cute on you 💔 Happy Women’s History Month I guess pic.twitter.com/2X0jEOXIWp

It’s not new news that the media has painted Taylor Swift as a celebrity who goes around dating multiple men and writing songs about them. The ultra-sexist image has reduced her to just that, and people seem to forget that a). it’s normal to date for her age, b.) you can’t dictate a person about their dating life, and c.) she is way more than her dating habits. This image has led to multiple remarks about her over the years, just like the line from the Netflix show Ginny and Georgia.
On Monday night, Taylor posted a screenshot of the said line calling out Netflix, the same company who produced her documentary, Miss Americana, saying it’s “lazy”. Taylor has been called names and has been the butt of jokes since her teens and now that she’s in her 30s, it’s understandable she reacted that way.
With sexual assault cases, it’s usually the celebrity who’s the perpetrator; it’s the other way around this time as the celebrity is the victim. In 2013, Taylor experienced being groped during a pre-show meet and greet; a radio DJ, David Mueller, grabbed her bottom after inserting his hand under her skirt. Taylor and her family kept it until 2015, when the DJ filed a defamation case against the singer.
It’s a big step for a global celebrity to break her silence. Only a fraction of sexual assault cases are reported; in fact, only 230 out of 1,000 cases are reported to the police! Taylor having to recall this awful moment while in court could be inspiring for other victims too. For a celebrity with that much influence, her grit could inspire more to speak up about their experience, which is something that’s usually brushed off.
After going through expensive legal fees and court trials, Taylor Swift only asked for a $1 fee for damages against her perpetrator, David Mueller. Instead of making Mueller bankrupt from the fees, Taylor asked for a measly fee and pledged to donate to organizations that help sexual assault victims instead. “My hope is to help those whose voices should also be heard,” Taylor shared in her statement after winning the case. Just imagine how many she’s inspired by doing this!
it’s 2021 and there are people who still thinks “Taylor made her career off of her exes” no she made it because she’s talented & one of the best songwriters…..it was fun while it lasted but misogyny is unacceptable now

TBH, no female artist should be reduced to who they choose to date or the choices they make for their bodies. Go let them write and sing about what they want!
Taylor Swift has just generously donated $250,000. to Kesha, as a show of support during this difficult time.AMAZING!!

Remember the #FreeKesha movement in 2014 where Kesha sued producer Dr. Luke to void all their contracts due to the producer’s sexual, emotional, physical, and verbal abuse over the years? People were quick to drag Taylor for not tweeting about it, calling her a fake feminist. However, it was later revealed that Taylor actually donated a generous sum of $250,000 to support Kesha’s fight for freedom, through a tweet by Kesha’s mom.
Has it really been nearly eight months since Taylor Swift surprised the world by dropping her 8th studio album Folklore? We all struggled (we are still struggling) with our productivity these months of lockdown but Taylor is clearly not a part of that crowd. In just a few months, she created a masterpiece that is Folklore – a full-length album written under lockdown! But she didn’t stop there — she kept writing and gave us the beauty that is Evermore. Sana all productive.
Been getting a lot of questions about the recent sale of my old masters. I hope this clears things up. pic.twitter.com/sscKXp2ibD

In case you missed it, Taylor has been in a battle to have the rights to all her songs against Scooter Braun. In 2004, Taylor signed a contract to Big Machine where she gave rights to her first six albums in exchange for an advance to help the start of her career. In 2019, Braun bought the label and Taylor has been on a battle against the exploitation of her old master recordings. Imagine not having the rights to your life’s work and having them sold without giving you notice? In a tweet in November 2020, Taylor stated she’s been re-recording her old songs saying, “it has already proven to be both exciting and creatively fulfilling.”

In October 2020, Shamrock Holdings bought 100% of Taylor Swift’s music. Though Scooter Braun will still make a profit from this purchase for many years, Taylor has expressed how delighted she is to work with people who value her life’s work.
2021 is looking brighter for both Taylor and Swifties as she dropped a new version of her hit song “Love Story” in February, which brought a whiff of nostalgia to everyone. This is just the beginning, and we can’t wait to hear the newly re-recorded songs – it would definitely feel as if we’re hearing them for the first time again.
