Many of us K-drama addicts have been torn between the two male leads in a love triangle, and there have even been instances when we’ve rooted for the second male lead to win the protagonist’s heart and break the K-drama formula. But though we don’t talk about them as much, there have also been second female leads that have made us sympathize with them in spite of their flaws. They might have even broken our hearts. Here are some K-drama female second leads that we shipped with the male lead more than the actual female lead:
As Park Sae-Ro-yi’s first love, we couldn’t help but fall for beautiful and intelligent Oh Soo-Ah. Although she was a bit too slow to show her feeling to Ro-yi, her loyalty and trust in him were very clear — even when she was working in the rival Jangga Group. What hurts more is that Soo-ah and Ro-yi had such great chemistry. Maybe in another life, they would’ve worked out in the end. Also, to all you torpe women out there, consider Soo-ah a cautionary tale.
In-ha may have been a mean girl, but we couldn’t resist her charming and stylish self. Her legendary clapbacks still make us laugh and honestly, we just loved to hate her annoying personality.

She may seem evil, but we think Oh Soo-jin was just misunderstood. Yes, she wanted revenge on her former best friend, but she was also a victim of bullying back in the days. Of course, that isn’t an excuse for her to become mean herself, but her painful history does put her behavior in perspective.
Another misunderstood girl, Soo-ah always wants to be on top, even if it means ruining other people’s reputations. However, she’s also a victim of society’s unrealistic beauty standards, which led her to set the bar so high for herself that she’d often go to extremes in order to stay thin. Seeing her hurt herself like that made us want to just reach out and hug her, TBH.

As the lost virgin ghost, we felt bad that she wasn’t able to fall in love during her life here on Earth. And after finding the perfect body, she ended up falling for a guy that could never be hers. It really hurts.
She may be mean most of the time, but she did it all to keep her husband. After feeling lonely and not needed, Seo-Kyeong did everything in order to keep her family together, and we can empathize with that. Maybe we wouldn’t resort to her methods, but we understand her motives.

We all loved this quiet nurse that kept her cool all of the time well — at least until she gets drunk. She may have not ended up with her first love, but at least she found her happy ending.

She’s probably the most sana-kayo-na-lang person on this list. Soo Hyun and Park Hoon’s chemistry was spot-on from the very start! We all thought that by some twist of fate they’ll end up together. However, in the end, they stayed as friends only.
