Korean drama My Name has stayed on Netflix’s daily list of Top Ten most watched films and shows in the Philippines and around the world — and for good reason. Created by Kim Ba-da and directed by Kim Jin-min, this gritty crime thriller has eight episodes packed with action sequences and revenge plots, led by rising star Han So-hee. My Name follows the orphaned Yoon Ji-woo, who is out for blood after her father was killed in front of her. She goes undercover in both the corrupt police force and the powerful underworld organizations, all so she could take revenge on the man responsible for her father’s death. If you liked the gritty dark crime action-packed female-led drama, then you should add these to your watch list, too.
Coming from the same director as My Name, ten-episode Extracurricular follows top student Oh Ji-soo who runs an illegal business to earn money for his everyday expenses. Wealthy heiress Bae Gyu-ri finds out his secret, and he ends up letting her in. Everything seems well, until another classmate of theirs gets caught. If you enjoyed the noir feel of My Name and a main character’s dip into the underworld, you would love the similar vibe of Extracurricular from the same director.
