Snoh Aalegra’s Sad Girl Music Made Us Swoon, Chill, and Feel in Love All Night Long

Jun 6, 2024   •   Angeli De Rivera

Despite the heat and traffic on a weeknight, people wearing their best street wear lined up and gathered at the Filinvest Tent in Alabang for a very special performance presented by Karpos Live. Grammy-nominated singer Snoh Aalegra was in town for a one-night concert, and fans were eager and ready to feel her feels.

Cool Girl Vibes

Starting promptly at 8:30 PM, Snoh began the evening with crowd favorites “Whoa,” followed by “Situationship” and “In Your Eyes.” Dressed in a leather mini skirt, teddy bear-patterned cropped vest over a white blouse, long loose white socks, and red Mary Janes, she exuded cool girl vibes as she swayed and glided across the stage.

The show was Snoh’s first gig in the country, so the fans made sure to let the Swedish R&B singer-songwriter know they had been waiting for her to come long, long time. “You could be anywhere, but you chose to be here tonight, and I don’t take it for granted,” the singer expressed. After thanking the crowd for its amazing energy, she continued with “Be My Summer,” “Nothing Burns Like the Cold,” and “Lost You,” which showed her singing prowess, effortlessly changing keys and registers to the thrill of her fans who have memorized her tunes to heart.

A Girl’s Girl

After crooning “Toronto,” Snoh addressed the crowd, “Where my ladies at?” causing a loud cheer from the girlies. “I have a question for the ladies… what’s up with guys these days?” She then asked the guys, “Why’re you always lying?” Afterward, she began to sing “You,” a piece in tribute to past relationships.

Fan favorites like “Fool for You,” “DYING 4 YOUR LOVE”, “TANGERINE DREAM,” and “Charleville 09200, Pt. II.” ensued a passionate sing-along with the fans, which impressed the Grammy-nominated singer. “Is it just me, or is it hot in here?” she coyly asked with a laugh. “Seeing the energy you guys are bringing tonight is crazy.”

To continue the chill set, Snoh then asked if she could be “a sad girl” a little bit more, to the crowd’s delight, setting the mood for “Love Like That.”

Her Feels

At this point of the show, Snoh opened up and shared her journey as an artist. “In case you didn’t know…the journey to this point has been a long one for me. I’ve always wanted to be an artist, I’ve always felt a little misplaced, an outsider. I’ve never felt like I belonged,” the artist confessed.

A child of Iranian immigrants, Snoh was born and raised in Sweden and is currently based in Los Angeles. But she confided, “This sounds cheesy, but the one place where I feel really at home and welcomed is the stage.”

“Sweet Tea” was the show-ender with Snoh leaving the stage right after. Even after belting out 14 songs, the crowd chanted “more,” which the singer obliged. Snoh’s encore performances were “Find Someone Like You” and “I Want You Around,” to the thrill of the couples in the house. Let’s just say the hand-holds and hugs were tighter and sweeter as the songstress sang her romantic ballads.

While the show’s visuals were minimal, with just her band on stage, the main draw was Snoh herself, who enchanted everyone with her powerful vocals and charming stage presence. What the singer didn’t count on, though, was how engaging and responsive her audience would be. “Can I just say that you guys are the best crowd [that] I’ve ever had?” Snoh exclaimed in between sets. Suffice it to say, we’re guessing this won’t be the only time Manila will hear of Snoh Aalegra and her feels.

When not playing with her baby girl, Angeli loves to just chill with J-Indie and City Pop tracks. A food editor for more than a decade, she still can’t stand cucumber, okra, and avocado. She has, however, made her peace with cilantro — sometimes.
